Over the course of the past two weeks more and more news about the next Nexus, or the 2015 Nexus smartphone, have started to emerge. While we’ve been hearing a few different reports today they’ve taken another twist with rumors claiming we could see an LG Nexus 7 smartphone in 2015.

In October of last year Google announced and then released three Nexus devices. The Nexus 6 smartphone. the newly improved and bigger Nexus 9 tablet, and the Nexus Player. Both mobile devices run the latest version of Android, which is Android 5.0 Lollipop, and have since received updates to Android 5.1 Lollipop. What about devices for 2015? Read on for the latest.

Google’s Nexus 6 has only been available for five or so months, but rumors of a brand new 2015 Nexus smartphone have already started to emerge. Early rumors claim two smartphone will actually be released, one being a flagship device like the Nexus 6, and another being a budget offering made by Huawei. And while the latter didn’t get mentioned today, the flagship 2015 Nexus smartphone is being rumored.

According to the Korean Press group eToday, the next Nexus smartphone that will be manufactured and released in 2015 will be made by LG. This marks the third Nexus smartphone by LG, as they produced the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5, before Motorola took over last year for the new Nexus 6.

The Korean news outlet has reportedly confirmed that multiple Googlers met with LG recently, and went as far as to say Google is visiting many key aspects of the LG Mobile division as the two prepare to partner up – once again – to produce a new Nexus smartphone that will be released around the globe.

They claim Google staff stopped by to visit with LG at the company headquarters, went to LG’s display division to see some of its latest cutting edge technology, the company’s research and development labs, as well as the departments overseeing advancements in wireless charging, and even the OIS camera and laser auto focus parts seen in recent LG smartphones.

This set of leaks goes as far as to say the device is under the codename ‘N000’ and that the “working name” for this particular device is the LG Nexus 7. Now obviously that would be confusing, considering that Google has released two devices simply named “Nexus 7” both being tablets released in 2012 and 2013.

For now all of this is only speculation and or rumors, but these comes from reports right from sources inside of Korea. Nothing else lends credence to these reports, aside from the past two rumors all stating that Google was making two devices. One by LG, and another lower-end and affordable Nexus made by the Chinese manufacturer Huawei. This marks the third report of LG working with Google in 2015, so things are at least starting to take shape.

If Google plans to design, manufacturer, and then release a Nexus smartphone in the latter months of 2015, like they’ve done the past few years, right now would be a good time to get things secured as they start preparing the new device. We’ll likely be hearing more in the coming weeks and months, and if it indeed is an LG Nexus smartphone, more leaks will surely emerge. Would you like an LG Nexus in 2015? Or maybe something completely different from Samsung, HTC, or even Huawei? Let us know in the comments below.
