5 New Xbox One & PS4 Games for April 2015

With a new calendar year now firmly in place, we’re slowly starting to see game releases pick up. With its sales lead cemented, you might assume that what there’d be more PS4 games than Xbox One games arriving on store shelves. That doesn’t seem to be the case though. April 2015, is filled with smaller titles, remakes and light games for both the Xbox One and the PS4. In fact, the only really big high-profile launch is Mortal Kombat X for the Xbox One and PS4.

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin

Coming Tuesday, April 7th is Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. The game isn’t new in the traditional sense. Dark Souls 2 is a role playing game with single player and multiplayer elements that originally arrived on the PS3, Xbox 360 and more in March of 2014. Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin is an upgraded version of that original game. It’s meant for those who didn’t get a chance to experience it the first time. Scholar of the First Sin includes new enemies and locations that were included in the original game’s downloadable content. The entire game has been remastered on the PC, PS4 an Xbox One.

Dark Souls 2 is sort of like any RPG in that players are tasked with building out their character and dealing with the inherent dangers of an unfamiliar world. Players will take on the role of an Undead human, who still has unfinished business in the caporal world and is afflicted by a curse. Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin is available for pre-order at GameStop now for $59.99 on all platforms.

Tropico 5

Strict simulation and management games don’t often make it to video game consoles. Every once in a while users get a watered down version of a simulation game with many of its complicated elements toned down so that users will have an easier time getting everything done with a controller.

Tropico 5 is a complete island management simulation game. Gamers take on the role of a dictator, running an islands entire operations and ruling with an iron fist. Users can relieve history in the game too, from founding the country to deciding which side to be on during the Cold War. Trade and constitutional governance are all in the game.

Tropico 5 is only coming to Sony’s PS4 on April 28th in the United States for $60. An Xbox One version of the game hasn’t been confirmed.

State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition

State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition is another one of those remakes that have become so popular with developers and gamers. Originally, the game launched on the Xbox 360 back in 2013 though. That means the case for State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition is easier to make. Enough time has passed that those who just picked up an Xbox One may not have experienced it.

State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition is all about using the things around you to survive a zombie apocalypse. The game isn’t nearly as forgiving as other titles in the genre though. You need to carefully ration the resources you find in the game world. There’s base building too.

State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition will cost $29.99 when it launches on April 28th.
