LG G4 Release Details Firming Up

With the LG G4 release coming soon, more and more details are starting to come to light. Today a major announcement was made by LG Electronics, showing off its latest smartphone display coming in at 5.5-inches and offering the best visual experience to date. It’s this, that will be featured in the all-new LG G4. With the Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 both official and coming soon, the next major release will be the LG G4.

Last year the LG G3 was announced in late May and arrived over a month later, far behind the competition. However, that release was earlier than the G2 before it, and the G2 arrived even earlier than the original Optimus G. Here in 2015 LG is doing the same thing again, and releasing the new LG G4 earlier than the model before it. The launch is officially set for April 28th.

In early February the new LG G4 smartphone was somewhat confirmed by LG themselves, following some early rumors, and soon those will all be put to rest when they officially announce the new device on April 28th. However, today we now know exactly what to expect in terms of size, and those rumors can be silenced as we wait for the release date. Below is what we know so far, and what LG is telling us about it’s new smartphone display technology.

We’ve seen a few leaked images already, but come late April the company will officially announce the new smartphone. Invites have started going out teasing the G4, and potentially revealing one version of it will be made from leather. Or at least have a leather back similar to the 2014 Moto X.

Late last night LG announced a brand new 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display for smartphones. A display that will most likely debut on the incoming LG G4. Rumors suggested the screen could be smaller this year, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. The new screen has tons of improvements, and promises to be the best LG display and smartphone screen available in 2015. The Galaxy S6 has a rather impressive 5.1-inch quad-hd display, so LG has some stiff competition.

According to the LG press release this new 5.5-inch Quad-HD display achieved a “quantum jump” in color gamut and brightness. The new LG G4 screen will be brighter, feature extremely rich and stunning colors. All while being more efficient and easier on battery life, thinner, and deliver improved touch function and precision.

The press release confirms this screen will be inside of LG’s next flagship smartphone, which is the LG G4 set to be announced on April 28th. They confirmed it has a new advanced In-Cell Touch technology that allows it to react to touches, even with water on it. Finally, it’s expected to show even more accurate colors over last year’s QHD panel in the G3 by offering a 120% color gamut, 50% increase in contrast, and 30% jump in brightness.

This all means the new LG G4 will have the same size 5.5-inch Quad-HD display. Only it will be more responsive, thinner, better looking, have stunning colors and brightness, all while using less battery life. The LG G3 screen wasn’t as bright as we’d like, and viewing angles and colors were a bit washed out. That shouldn’t be an issue here in 2015.

We can expect the new LG G4 to look excellent, be thinner, all while having a better display and some of the best specs of any smartphone released in 2015. Rumor has it this device will be powered by an 8-core Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a micro-SD slot, and it may even be curved a bit like the G Flex 2. At least if a few early leaks are accurate.

We have a little under a month until the phone gets officially announced and confirmed on April 28th in New York City, and around the globe, and we’ll update the moment we have more details or some photos leak of this impressive sounding smartphone.
