10 T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Release Date Tips

Published

on

The T-Mobile Galaxy S6 release date is finally here which means that buyers in the United States are now keying in on the carrier’s regular option and the Galaxy S6 Edge. Today, on release day, we want to offer some T-Mobile Galaxy S6 release date tips to those of you that have already ordered and those of you that are thinking about picking up a device down the road.

Back in March, T-Mobile confirmed two new flagship Galaxy smartphones in the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. The two devices will take over for the Galaxy S5 as the carrier’s flagship Galaxy phones and they will do so with a ton of new features and enhancements including a new design language, new processor, new camera, beautiful displays, and more. Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge also features a curved display.

Later in the month, T-Mobile started taking Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge pre-orders ahead of an April 10th release date. Today, T-Mobile has released the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge onto its shelves giving those who didn’t pre-order a chance to walk out of the stores with a brand new smartphone. Or in some cases, smartphones.

With the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 release date finally here, we want to offer some last minute tips to those of you who have already put in a pre-order and to those that are still on the fence about picking up a T-Mobile Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge. These T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 release date tips will get your brain moving and they should help make the whole experience less painful.

You Don’t Need to Buy It Today

The first bit of advice that we want to offer to you today is this: You shouldn’t feel any pressure to buy the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge today. They aren’t going anywhere.

We haven’t seen any reports of lines outside T-Mobile stores or sell outs or anything crazy like that. What this means is that you should be able to wait a few days or even a few weeks before making your decision. These are expensive smartphones and if you’re straddling the fence, you’re not gong to want to rush into anything.

Take your time, be patient and enjoy the process. The T-Mobile Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Go Hands-on Before You Buy

Go hands-on with the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge before you buy. There are plenty of reasons why you’ll want to go hands-on with these two devices  but we’ll give you two of the most important ones.

First, you’ll need to decide whether you need the curved Galaxy S6 Edge or not. The bent display is interesting but it also comes with at a premium so you’ll want to be absolutely, positively sure that it’s necessary. A majority of you probably won’t want or need it but you’ll want to make sure.

The other reason is the Galaxy S6 price. T-Mobile’s Galaxy S5 is much cheaper than the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. So you’ll want to make sure that you, or a loved one, need what the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge offer. Some of you will be fine getting last year’s model but you won’t know that until you go hands-on with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Do that before buying.

Research T-Mobile’s Other Flagships

You should also take the time to go hands-on with T-Mobile’s other flagship smartphones before buying the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge. It has a ton of top notch choices on its shelves right now and you’ll want to compare them to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

Check out the LG G3 and Moto X before buying. You’ll also want to check out the HTC One M9, T-Mobile’s new HTC flagship. And if you’re not loyal to Android, you’ll want to check out the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, two of the best phones on the market.

We also recommend keeping an eye on the latest LG G4 rumors. LG will be announcing the LG G4 later this month and there’s a very good chance that it will instantly become one of the top Android smartphones on the market. T-Mobile will almost certainly opt to carry the LG G4.

You Can Now Buy the Gold Galaxy S6

Today’s T-Mobile Galaxy S6 release date has incorporated all of T-Mobile’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge models. Before today, the gold 32GB and 64GB Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge models were listed as “coming soon.” Today, they are available to order. Choose your color wisely.

We haven’t seen the green or blue models pop up yet so note that you’re probably going to be waiting quite awhile for those options to hit shelves. Samsung is well known for giving exclusives to retailers and carriers so there’s a chance that neither color will end up on T-Mobile.

Track Your Orders

We recommend that all Galaxy S6 buyers, current and future, keep tabs on tracking information, especially if you work during the week. You don’t want your precious cargo sitting out on your doorstep for eight hours while you sit in your office.

If that reflects your situation, you might want to see if you can get the delivery company to hold onto your package at a physical location where it’s safe and secure. You might also direct your shipment to your place of work though most of you probably won’t have a billing address attached to your office.

Look Out For T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Deals

T-Mobile is offering a few Galaxy S6 deals on today’s release date. If you’re looking to buy some accessories with your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge, you can input code ACCSAVE25 and save 25% off accessories. That’s huge for those of you that were already planning to buy Galaxy S6 accessories with your new device.

It’s also worth noting that T-Mobile is knocking $30 off its Samsung Gear Circle Bluetooth headset. You also have two more days to take advantage of the carrier’s free Netflix deal.

While we haven’t seen any price cuts, be on the lookout. T-Mobile is the UnCarrier and it has been known to deliver some early discounts on flagship smartphones to help attract people to its network.

T-Mobile vs. Other Galaxy S6 Carriers

We’ve also put together a Galaxy S6 carrier comparison that takes a look at how the carrier stacks up against its top rivals. If you’re a free agent and you don’t necessarily need to buy the Galaxy S6 on T-Mobile, we recommend taking a look at the comparison before making your move.

T-Mobile Jump vs. Off-Contract

We recently put together a comparison that highlights the differences between T-Mobile Jump and buying the device off-contract. We highly recommend taking a look at that if you’re not sure how to buy the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge on T-Mobile.

Dig Into Your Storage Needs Before You Buy

T-Mobile’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge models come in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. Neither device comes with a microSD card slot which means that getting the correct amount of storage is extremely important. You don’t want to spend too much money and you want to get a device that fits your storage needs.

We recommend looking at your current phone’s storage, investigating your habits, and coming to a decision about how much storage you’ll need. This applies even if you’re not planning to buy for a few weeks. Please, please, don’t guess at what you might need. Really dig in.

Many of you will be fine with 32GB of storage space. However, there will be those of you that need a whole lot more for games, photos, video, and other files. The sooner you decide, the sooner you can prepare your bank account.

The T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Release Is Limited

One final reminder. Don’t be the person that walks into Best Buy expecting to buy a T-Mobile phone. And don’t be the person with fingers crossed hoping for a T-Mobile Galaxy S6 release at Amazon. Neither will happen.

If you want to buy the T-Mobile Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge, you’re going to need to go through T-Mobile or an authorized seller. T-Mobile’s retail reach isn’t as large as AT&T, Sprint and Verizon so your options are going to be far more limited.

I did the T-Mobile “pre-order” of the S6 128GB Black. After a few days of seeing “backordered” on my account, I called them. They told me that I could expect it to ship between 4/11 [day after official release] and 4/25. Imagine that, waiting up to 2 weeks after it comes out to get it. Sounds more like a post-order to me.

I called them a few days ago to attempt to cancel the pre-order. Guess what? They said that they cannot cancel pre-orders. But they said I could let the order go in, get charged almost $300, reject the package and give it back to UPS, and hope that I get my $300 back in a timely fashion.

Then, I went into a T-Mobile store. They said they’re mainly focused on selling the 32GB, because, “No phone sold before has had 128GB of storage, and quite frankly, people just aren’t going to spend the money it takes to get this unit.”

    I’m considering my options today.

If anyone else is stuck in this situation and wants out, there is another way. In the “pre-order” process, they indicate that your pre-order will not be fulfilled if your payment instrument is rejected at the time they want to charge. Since I haven’t been charged yet, I may just cancel my credit card and go that route.

T-Mobile is doing everything they possibly can to ensure that I will not be a happy customer, and that I will eventually leave.
