Speck CandyShell Grip Galaxy S6 Edge Case Review

The Speck CandyShell Grip Galaxy S6 Edge case is a well-designed case that is easy to hang on to and that complements the curved edges of the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Samsung’s new flagship delivers curved edges on both sides of the phone that can show notifications when the phone is placed face down on a table and that can also show other details during regular use. This means Galaxy S6 Edge cases need to keep the sides more open than a traditional case.

There are a number of great Galaxy S6 Edge cases available so far and the Speck CandyShell Grip Galaxy S6 Edge case is one of them. Find out how this performs to see if it should be what you choose to protect your Galaxy S6 Edge.

The Speck CandyShell Grip Galaxy S6 Edge case is a great option.

The Speck CandyShell Grip cases get their name from the raised edges on the back of the case that makes it easier to grip. Positioned in four areas the grips stick out just enough to keep the phone in place when you set it down on a surface that isn’t flat and just enough to grip when you hold it.

While the Galaxy S6 Edge isn’t slippery in my hands it will often slide off slightly angled surfaces when I set it down without a case. This is due to the smooth back and slightly raised camera lens. With the CandyShell Grip Galaxy S6 Edge case on, the phone stays where I put it.

You can still use the sides of the Galaxy S6 Edge.

I especially like the grips when I take the Galaxy S6 Edge to the gym. Even though I don’t worry about holding on to the S6 Edge during most of my day, when hands are sweaty and the S6 is sitting on gym equipment the grip areas on the CandyShell Grip comes in very handy.

The sides of the case are cut away enough so that I can still use the edge features like the Night Clock, Notifications and Information Stream. There is a small ridge that sticks out on the top and bottom edges of the case. This allows you to keep the screen off of a table when you set the phone face down to use the color notifications.

Speck covers the buttons with a soft rubber that is easy to push, and this actually makes finding the buttons a little easier. The outer part of the case is made of a hard material while the inner is made of a soft rubber-like material that helps absorb shock. Wide openings at the bottom allow easy access to plug-in any headphones, USB charger cables and for the microphone.

Similar cutouts are at the top for the IR port and a microphone. There is an oversize camera opening so that it is easy to use the heart rate tool. The front edge is far enough away that the fingerprint reader works great. Even through this case adds a little bulk the Galaxy S6 Edge still works on the Tylt Vu Solo wireless charger we are using.
