Silent Hills Cancellation Was "Unexpected"

A lot of people were caught off guard by Konami's big announcement in April. And it seems fans of the series weren't the only ones surprised by the company's move. 

In an interview with IGN, director Guillermo Del Toro says that the split between Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and the subsequent cancellation of the Silent Hills title caught him by complete and utter surprise. 

He goes on to say that he's no longer certain that he will venture in video games telling the publication he's tried twice and both instances have ended in cancellations. The director of Pan's Labyrinth was also developing a game for THQ before the title was cancelled and the company was forced to declare bankruptcy.
