Elder Scrolls Online Release: 5 Things to Know About DLC

Published

on

The Xbox One and PS4 Elder Scrolls Online release has come and gone but that doesn’t mean that ZeniMax will stop releasing updates and new content for the popular MMO. Yesterday, the company confirmed several Elder Scrolls Online DLC details and today, we want to take a look at what you need to know about Elder Scrolls Online DLC.

Last year, ZeniMax and Bethesda released Elder Scrolls Online, an MMO set in the Elder Scrolls universe on the continent of Tamriel. At the time, the company released the game for the PC and not for PS4 or Xbox One, delaying those two releases until 2015.

After several delays, the companies finally got the PS4 and Xbox One version of Elder Scrolls Online out on shelves and thousands and thousands of players have flooded ZeniMax’s servers and its massive game world that features tons of quests, loot, enemies, allies, and more.

The game has received solid reviews from critics and players alike though it’s not without its problems. Elder Scrolls Online problems have emerged in the days since its arrival as PS4 and Xbox One users run into many of the same problems that plagued the PC version of the game.

As many know, the Elder Scrolls Online release is a marathon, not a sprint, and ZeniMax will continue to support this game for a number of years with bug fixes and also Downloadable Content, also known as DLC.

Yesterday, we gleaned a few more Elder Scrolls Online DLC details from the developer and today, we want to take a look at everything you need to know about Elder Scrolls DLC for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Elder Scrolls Online DLC Release Dates

Yesterday, ZeniMax confirmed plans to release new Elder Scrolls Online DLC before the end of the year. The company says that it’s committed to adding new content and new features to the game and it will be releasing at least two big additions sometime later this year.

The company says that it will deliver two brand new zones to Tamriel Unlimited later this year. The company did not outline a specific release date for either of them which means that owners of the PS4, Xbox One and PC will have to wait on pins and needles as we push into the summer towards the holiday season.

ZeniMax also did not say if it would take a staggered approach to the DLC release or if it will release the DLC to PC, Xbox One and PS4 owners at the same time. We expect those details to emerge as we get closer to the company’s release date.

Elder Scrolls Online Imperial City

One of the zones the company confirmed yesterday is Imperial City, a zone that will be familiar to anyone that played the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

The Imperial City in Elder Scrolls Online has been dubbed “The Fallen Capital of Tamriel” and judging by the trailer the company released yesterday, it’s going to be populated with tons of foul enemies including bosses that players will requires groups to defeat.

In the meantime, the company’s released a new Elder Scrolls Online Imperial City wallpaper that fans of the game can download ahead of the zone’s release.

The company says that it’ll begin its “full pre-launch Imperial City coverage” starting in July which means that the Imperial City could be out before the end of summer.

Elder Scrolls Online Orsinium

The company also confirmed another zone called Orsinium, also known as the “Realm of the Orcs.” The video teaser that the company produced highlights a number of the new locations coming with the new zone and it also revealed several of the enemies that await Elder Scrolls Online players.

The company was far more secretive about the Orsinium release which means that it’s release date could very well come after the release of Imperial City. Whatever the case, these are the next two big DLC releases for Elder Scrolls Online and both are slated to arrive before the end of the year.

Elder Scrolls Online DLC Free for ESO Plus Users

As for Elder Scrolls Online DLC itself, there are a few things that PC, Xbox One and PS4 users need to know about these upcoming releases.

First off, Elder Scrolls Online DLC is free if you’re a paying member of ESO Plus. ESO Plus is a subscription that brings a number of benefits to players including:

30-day (PC/Mac) / One-Month (Xbox One/PlayStation 4) Membership:

  • Access to all downloadable content for the duration of membership
  • Exclusive character progression bonuses for the duration of membership
    • 10% bonus to experience point gain
    • 10% bonus to crafting research
    • 10% bonus to crafting inspiration gain
    • 10% bonus to gold acquisition

90-day (PC/Mac) Membership:

    • 10% bonus to experience point gain
    • 10% bonus to crafting research
    • 10% bonus to crafting inspiration gain
    • 10% bonus to gold acquisition

180-day (PC/Mac) Membership:

    • 10% bonus to crafting research
    • 10% bonus to crafting inspiration gain
    • 10% bonus to gold acquisition

ESO Plus 30 day memberships cost $14.99 per month. A 90 day ESO Plus membership is $13.99. And the 180 day membership is $12.99. The memberships include recurring payments.

Those who have used ESO Plus (we never subscribed to it for PC and did just fine) have both positive and negative things to say about the service so you’ll want to dig into user feedback before committing any money.

It’s still not clear how much ZeniMax might charge for any upcoming Elder Scrolls Online DLC. One thing that we do know though is that it will put the DLC up on the Crown Store.

Crowns Store

The Crown Store is the Elder Scrolls Online marketplace where you can find all of the game’s downloadable content. Those who aren’t ESO Plus subscribers will have to buy Crowns using real money to acquire the game’s DLC. Some content is much cheaper than other content and players will need to research the benefits and cost before committing money to bundles, costumers, and more.

The only problem with this imperial city dlc is that you are in the obligation of playing pvp whem a bunch of gamer are pve like my self. Plus you get interrupted by pvp player every time that you are trying to complete a mission. And worse when you are at level 16 there is no content to play you get over boring, this game is dying in ps4 is a emptiness am waiting for hours just to make one mission in craglorn and the daily mission known one is playing that any more. I love this kind of game but they have to make more content for pve more powers of each role a new power for the tank, healer, and dps more set PER LEVEL with better stats for each role just like dcuo. And they can even create a new role someone that give you magika and take that out from the healer.

Does it embrace team based quests? looking for something me and a few buddies can roam around together and generally create carnage and levelling up on the way Bit like GTA in a fantasy environment on the trusty PS4.

The game is mostly team-based the exceptions are fighters guild, Mages guild and main story questlines everything else you should be able to do with a group.

what does Access to all downloadable content for the duration of membership mean does it mean I have to pay for membership to use dlc or is it a one time thing like can I play the dlc without getting multiple memberships?

ive been wondering this myself so I did research, it means you have to pay each month otherwise you lose access to the dlc that’s why im just going to go all out and buy them all it might cost more upfront but will probably be cheaper in the long run
