7 Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Release Date Tips

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 release date has already arrived for some people and it’s going to arrive for a bunch more in the weeks ahead. With that in mind, we want to offer some useful Samsung Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Lollipop release date tips that will help those of you who are thinking about making the transition to the company’s newest version of Android.

Samsung’s been extremely busy in the months since its first Android 5.0 Lollipop release. The company’s pushed out a mind-boggling number of updates to Galaxy smartphones and tablets and the overall Lollipop push will continue even once the Android M update is out.

The company’s Lollipop release recently got more interesting. Earlier this month, Samsung started rolling out its version of Android 5.1.1, an update that first started rolling out to Nexus devices back in April. Android 5.1.1 replaces Android 5.1 and it does so with a number of crucial bug fixes on board.

Samsung is rolling out Android 5.1.1 to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge and it’s also expected to release the update for the Galaxy Note 4. The update remains limited to the T-Mobile versions of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge but that will change very soon.

With plenty of Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Lollipop updates set to roll out in the future, now is the perfect time to share some tips with those of you who are excited about Samsung’s latest Lollipop build. These tips will help you in the buildup to your Android 5.1.1 update’s release and they will help you on the day that your roll out arrives.

Look Out For Android 5.1.1 Release Info

If you own a Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge or Galaxy Note 4, you’re going to want to be on the lookout for information regarding your Android 5.1.1 release date.

Many carriers release Android update information before an update roll outs and some update that information pretty frequently. Rogers’ upgrade schedule is a good example.

Android upgrade pages are often hard to find but do some digging around your carrier’s website and you might find an Android update schedule.

If you live in the United States, you probably won’t find anything in the buildup to your Android 5.1.1 release date. T-Mobile is the only carrier that offers information about its Android update roll outs ahead of release day.

US carriers are notorious for their silence ahead of major Android upgrades and the remaining carriers (AT&T, US Cellular, MetroPCS, Cricket) probably won’t say much in the weeks ahead.

There’s always a chance that a social media rep or a customer service representative for a major U.S. or international carrier will slip up and offer some specific details but we wouldn’t count on it. If you’re in the United States, you probably won’t know anything about your release date or Android 5.1.1 update until the day it arrives.

Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Release Time

It’s very difficult to predict the exact release time for Android updates. Samsung is random and unpredictable and every carrier is different. That said, most of the time, we see Android updates start rolling out in the morning during the working week (Monday-Friday).

We typically do not see updates roll outs start on the weekend so if your update hasn’t been released, there’s no need to check on Saturday and Sunday. If your roll out has started, there’s always a chance that you’ll see your Galaxy Android 5.1.1 update arrive over the weekend as the carrier works to push its new software out Over-the-Air. Still, the precise of the release will be unpredictable.

Point is, there’s no reason to continually check your phone. Check a few times a day once the roll out has started. There’s no reason to obsess over a random release process that’s not in your control.

Prepare Your Device

Most of you aren’t going to find out about your Samsung Android 5.1.1 release date or time until the second the update lands. So, you’re going to want to prepare your device now instead of later. If you prepare, you minimize the risk of encountering Android 5.1.1 release date problems.

We recently put together a list of steps that we think you should take before your Android 5.1.1 release date touches down. These steps will prepare your phone, and your mind, for Android 5.1.1’s arrival.

You Don’t Need to Install Android 5.1.1 on Release Day

If you get an Android 5.1.1 prompt, you’re going to be tempted to install the update. Just remember that you don’t need to install the software on day one. In fact, there are some reasons why you might want to wait for the dust from the Android 5.1.1 release to settle before installing.

Samsung’s Android updates always bring their own collection of problems. And there’s a very good chance Android 5.1.1 will mess something up on your phone. You always assume risk installing new Android software and installing on day one is an extremely risk proposition.

Instead of installing the update on day one, you’re better off waiting so that you can dig through feedback from those that decided to take the plunge on day one. You’ll want to poke around Android-centric forums, social media and carrier forums to see what Galaxy users are saying about Android 5.1.1 and you’ll want to use that feedback to make an informed decision about Android 5.1.1.

If you’re not a power user, you’re better off waiting a few days for the smoke to settle. That way you can get the lay of the land and come to an informed decision about Lollipop. Someone always installs early and you shouldn’t be afraid to ask questions of them before you make the move.

Look Into Android 5.1.1 Problems & Fixes

Android 5.1.1 is causing problems for some Android users. In response to those problems, we put together a list of fixes for the most common issues. These are worth exploring ahead of your release date or on the release date itself so that you are prepared if something goes wrong on your device. Remember, there’s always a chance for issues.

Set Aside Time for the Update

If you’re busy on your Galaxy Android 5.1.1 Lollipop release date, don’t try and squeeze an install into your schedule. This is a huge upgrade and one that could potentially have a huge impact on your device’s performance.

Galaxy S6 Edge Settings

T-Mobile’s Android 5.1.1 updates are huge, 650MB in size, and we expect upcoming Android 5,1.1 update’s to be of a similar size. That means that you’ll need at least 30 minutes or so to download and install. You do not want to be distracted during the installation process so make sure you do it when you have some quiet time at home.

Be Patient

Finally, and maybe most important, be patient. Samsung’s Android 5.1.1 roll out is going to take time and there’s simply no telling where it will head in the future.

You’ll also want to remain patient after the update starts rolling out for your device. Samsung and its carrier partners like to slow roll these updates so that they can catch issues during the OTA process. Typically, OTAs don’t last more than a week but just know that there’s a chance that you won’t see your update arrive on the first day of availability.

Keep an eye on carrier websites and social media accounts for more information. Carriers will post information just as soon as they’re ready.

Just curious if you did a factory reset. Every major update I’ve received I always follow with clear cache, clear dalvik cache. factory reset. I know that sux and takes a long time to get your fon back to how you like it but I have no issues with my note 4. in face it works better than on KitKat.

Too much rush for Samsung. What to ask of Marshmallow…..Note 4 in India is yet to receive Lollipop 5.1.1. Meanwhile…..Android N is to release by May 2016. It means Note 4 will get the N by mid or late 2017….! Why updates of Android come so delayed on Samsung platform….?
