iOS 8.4 Release Time: What Not to Expect

Published

on

We still don’t have an official iOS 8.4 release date for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch though we know that it will land sometime in the near future. With a release date missing in action, we want to make sure iOS 8 users are as prepared as possible and today we want to take another look at the unannounced iOS 8.4 release time.

In April, Apple confirmed yet another iOS 8 release for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch in the form of iOS 8.4. iOS 8.4 will follow in the footsteps of iOS 8.1, iOS 8.2, iOS 8.3, and a slew of other iOS 8 updates and it will deliver some key components including a revamped Music app and the company’s Apple Music platform. Thing is, we still don’t know when it will be out.

iOS 8.4 has been sitting in beta for several months now and it even made an appearance alongside Apple Music on stage during Apple’s WWDC 2015 keynote. Still, Apple has failed to tag it with a specific release date, something that’s left many iPhone and iPad users on edge.

With an Apple Music release date confirmed for June 30th, we know that the iOS 8.4 release date will land soon, sometime between Friday and the end of the day on Tuesday. What we don’t know is the precise time at which Apple will release its brand new iOS update. We have some theories but nothing is set in stone.

With an iOS 8.4 release date close and an iOS 8.4 release time out of reach, we’ve been relaying some of our expectations to help iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users in need.

If you’ve been through an iOS update release before you probably have some idea of what not to expect from Apple. If you just bought an iPhone or iPad for the first time though, this is what you shouldn’t expect from Apple and the iOS 8.4 release time.

iOS 8.4 Release Date Delay

Do not expect the iOS 8.4 release date to get delayed beyond June 30th.

Apple is already marketing its Apple Music service in places like Times Square which means that its June 30th release is still on track. Apple typically doesn’t announce firm release dates unless it’s confident that it will hit that date. Apple Music is embedded within iOS 8.4 which means that the company will need to release the update before iOS users can start using it.

The iOS 8.4 release date will land on one of three days. Tomorrow, Monday June 29th or on June 30th itself. The update and its features appear to be on track and there’s no reason to expect any delays for the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

iOS 8.4 Release Time Surprises

Do not expect Apple to surprise with the iOS 8.4 release date or iOS 8.4 release time.

Don’t expect Apple to release the update in waves as it will likely be released to everyone at once. Don’t expect it to stray too much from the standard release time protocol that calls for a release around 10AM PST. That’s what everyone is expecting and Apple likes to please its customers. Don’t expect the update to become available OTA first followed by a release on iTunes. It will become available straightaway on both.

Apple rarely strays from the iOS release script so we’re not expecting anything unusual from the iOS 8.4 release time. Keep an eye out for the update starting at 9AM PST on Friday, Monday, and Tuesday. There’s a very good chance it will arrive sometime after that.

Lengthy iOS 8.4 Installation

Once the iOS 8.4 update is released, we don’t expect it to take a long time to install on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Most of you should be fine installing it right when it comes out.

We’re not expecting iOS 8.4 to be a gigantic update and we’re also not expecting Apple’s servers to be completely slammed. There will likely be some initial hiccups but we don’t expect a majority of initial iOS 8.4 installations to take any more than 30 minutes.

If you’re in need of iOS 8.4 and its features and fixes, you should be able to get it installed no problem on day one. If you’re worried, wait a few hours for the smoke to settle. We don’t expect to see major installation problems hours after the update’s release.

Zero iOS 8.4 Problems

We don’t expect iOS 8.4 to be perfect and we will almost certainly see complaints about iOS 8.4 problems emerge immediately after the update’s release time later this month.

iOS updates, even ones that go through a lengthy beta, are never perfect. And while we are expecting iOS 8.4 to be stable, we don’t expect Apple’s discussion forums to be bare in the minutes and hours after the iOS 8.4 update gets released.

If you’ve seen problems in the past or if you’re having a great experience on iOS 8.3 or below, you’ll want to be careful and maybe wait a few hours or even a few days before installing this update. We expect to see iOS 8.4 feedback emerge shortly after the update is released.

To Be Stuck on iOS 8.4

Don’t expect to get stuck on iOS 8.4. If you install iOS 8.4 upon release and you immediately notice problems, you should be able to drop down iOS 8.3.

A loophole typically leaves the downgrade process open for a few weeks so you should be able to downgrade minutes after the iOS 8.4 release or wait a few days before making the move.

No iOS 8.4 Jailbreak Details

We should see iOS 8.4 jailbreak details emerge in and around the iOS 8.4 release time. There’s a chance that we’ll see an iOS 8.4 jailbreak released for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and so we wouldn’t expect there to be a lack of information in and around the iOS 8.4 update’s release.

Someone will say or do something immediately after the update’s release. It could simply be a warning not to install it or it could be a full-blown iOS 8.4 jailbreak release. It’s hard to say at this point but you shouldn’t expect silence from the jailbreak community.

Unless you’re a developer… No one should get the betas … Too many issues, bugs and incompatibilities with apps
