Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition Release: What Not to Expect

Published

on

The Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition is still difficult to find for PS4, Xbox One and PC and that probably won’t change anytime soon. With its release in mind, we take an early look at a few things we don’t expect from the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

At E3 2015, Bethesda took the stage to announce a slew of new products including Dishonored 2, a new Doom, and a new installment in the Fallout franchise dubbed Fallout 4. Fallout 4 is the successor to Fallout 3, a game that emerged all the way back in 2008. It has been a long time coming.

We still don’t have all of the Fallout 4 details though thanks to the game’s big debut at E3 2015, we have a lot of them. We know what the game will look like, we know how the combat will work, we know the Fallout 4 release date in November, and we know that Bethesda is offering a special edition of the game that’s selling out like hot cakes.

Fallout-4-12

The collectors edition is called Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition and it comes with several exclusives for $120. For double the cost of the regular game buyers get a special capsule case, a poster, a pocket guide, and a real-life working Pip Boy that works in conjunction with an iPhone or Android phone.

At first, the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition was in stock at top retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and GameStop. And then, the game started selling out. Everywhere. These days, it’s extremely hard to find and that’s left some buyers scrambling to get their copy of the game.

We’ve been keeping an eye on Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition in an effort to help buyers and to help set your expectations moving forward. Today, we want to take another look as we tell you about what we don’t expect from the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release in the coming weeks and on the release day itself.

No Way to Buy Between Now and November

First, we’ll start with some release expectations for people who are still looking to nab a Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition.

Bethesda says that its last shipment of Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition was the last for all locations in all territories where the game is sold. It also says that stock is completely sold out in the United States.

That’s a huge blow to those that weren’t quick to pull the trigger on an order but it’s not a death knell. There will still be ways to acquire a Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition.

Fallout-4-5

We could see stock return at retailers selling the game in the United States and abroad. According to Bethesda’s Pete Hines “each store is being given their final allotment” and “how and when they make the available is up to them.” You’re just going to need to keep an eye out for it. Maybe someone will cancel their pre-order.

You’ll also be able to buy Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition through unofficial means. eBay is already playing host to the game and we expect to see it show up at other resellers between now and November.

The company says that it’s still “working out details on final inventory for European territories” and that it expects “to have information early next week.” So those of you outside the United States will need to tune in to the company’s blog for more updates on the progress it’s making.

Cheap Alternatives

Just don’t expect the alternatives to official retailers to be cheap. The game is already $120 and with the demand that we’re seeing, resellers are already jacking up the price. We’ve seen a few pre-orders on eBay going for more than $200 and we wouldn’t be surprised if those prices increase as we push closer to the game’s November 10th release date.

If you aren’t able to put in an order through a retailer, and many of you probably won’t be able to, be prepared to shell out a bunch of money for the collectors edition. We wouldn’t be surprised if things get ugly.

Bethesda to Budge

Do not expect Bethesda to budge. It’s clear that they’ve made an absolute ton of these already and according to Hines, the company doesn’t want to flood the market with a poorly made product. This is a company that upholds a high standard for its games.

There are only so many we can make and maintain a level of quality. We don’t own our own factories.

While the company could surprise later in the year, we wouldn’t be surprised if it kept its word and focused on the thousands and thousands of orders it has already taken months ahead of the game’s release.

Early Deliveries

As for those of you who already ordered the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition, you can focus on the November 10th release date. Here are a few things we don’t expect from current orders and the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release date.

First off, don’t expect Bethesda to magically deliver all of these Pip Boys ahead of that November 10th release date. While we might see a few lucky people get their hands on the special edition ahead of the release date, you shouldn’t expect early deliveries to be widespread. More often than not, pre-orders arrive on the day that the game comes out.

That said, this is an absolutely huge launch so we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw some retailers offer midnight launch events at their stores. If that’s the case, and we expect it to be, you might be able to nab your pre-order the second the clock hits midnight on November 10th.

Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition Release Date Delay

As we mentioned, Bethesda typically doesn’t play around with its customers. If it says something, it’s usually true. If it sets a release date, it typically delivers.

We do not expect the company to have to delay the Fallout 4 Pip Boy Edition release date on November 10th in any way. We don’t expect the manufacturing process to be easy but we should see the company get the collectors editions out to every single pre-ordering customer on time.

It’s clear that November 10th was a carefully crafted date (the game’s been in development for a number of years) and we haven’t seen any warning signs. The Pip Boy was behind glass at E3 2015 but we’re not worried. Not in the slightest.

Fallout 4 Release Date

Fallout 4 Release Date

Ahead of yesterday's announcements, the feeling around the web was that the Fallout 4 release date would land sometime in 2015 as opposed to 2016. We kept our fingers crossed and yesterday, Bethesda confirmed the exciting news.

The Fallout 4 release date for PC, Xbox One and PS4 is confirmed for November 10th, a date that falls right smack in the middle of the holiday shopping season. Obviously, the timing is key for those planning to buy the game for themselves and the timing is also big for those that are already thinking about gifts for friends and family.

Bethesda waited a number of years to deliver the game and a release date so we're not expecting this Fallout 4 release date to budge. The game and the developer look like they're ready to get their brand new installment out on shelves and there's no reason to be skeptical. You can expect November 10th to stick.
