iPhone 6s vs. Galaxy Note 5: 5 Things We Learned in June

Premium Designs

Last year, Apple bumped its screen sizes to better compete with Android. This year, Samsung introduced premium designs to better compete with Apple.

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge feature glass and metal designs that are a departure from Samsung's design language of the past. And if Galaxy Note 5 rumors are accurate, we could see the company borrow from these designs for the next Note.

Some recent leaks hint at a new design for the Galaxy Note 5 though it's not clear if it will use the same build materials as the Galaxy S6. It's also not clear if the device will keep a microSD card slot or removable battery, two things that the iPhone doesn't have.

The Galaxy Note 5 is also rumored to have a thin 7.9mm design (1mm thicker than the current iPhone 6) and a USB Type-C port for faster data transfers.

If iPhone 6s design rumors are accurate, the device could look like last year's models. With some upgrades of course.

Kuo believes that Apple will use a stronger aluminum material for the iPhone 6s design. The material, Series 7000 series aluminum, is used on the Apple Watch Sport and its helped to prevent the usual wear and tear we usually get with Apple's metal designs.

He also thinks that the iPhone 6s design will be 0.2 millimeters thicker than the iPhone 6. Even if that's true, the devices could still be much thinner than the Galaxy Note 5.
