Astonishing iPhone 6s Release Date Rumor Surfaces

Published

on

Over the holiday weekend you may have heard that the iPhone 6s release date is confirmed for late September, but the publication includes one unbelievable part of the release date puzzle and the actual source is too far removed from Apple.

The new iPhone for 2015 is almost certainly the iPhone 6s and with the iOS 9 release date confirmed for this fall, the iPhone 6s release date is all but confirmed for the fall too. This leads to many publications and sources sharing dates that they claim come direct from Apple.

In the latest iPhone 6s release date rumor we hear a plausible date, but the supporting details are not enough to confirm this as some excited shoppers might expect. Here’s what you need to know about the latest iPhone 6s release date rumor, and why you might not want to mark your calendar just yet.

iPhone 6s Announcement Date

The M.I.C. Gadget blog details a potential release timeline that starts on September 11th. This is a Friday in mid-September.

The iPhone 6s launch event rumors are out of line.

The iPhone 6s launch event rumors are out of line.

This is where the iPhone 6s release date rumor starts to fall apart. Apple normally announces a new iPhone on a Tuesday, leaving just over a week and a half between the announcement and the iPhone release date. Here’s the breakdown for the last three major new iPhone launch events and releases.

  • iPhone 5  – Launch September 12 – Release September 21.
  • iPhone 5s – Launch September 10 – Release September 20.
  • iPhone 6 & 6 Plus – Launch September 9 – Release September 19.

With this timing in place there is also time for iPhone pre-orders the Friday before the release, if Apple offers them.

A September 11th iPhone 6 event would be too late in the week to capitalize on media coverage, include the pre-orders and it is also on the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. Altogether it seems like a very unlikely date.

iPhone 6s Release Date

The iPhone 6s release date may actually come on September 18th as the source predicts. Apple normally announces the new iPhone in early September and then sells it on the third or fourth Friday of the month.

A solid bet is that the iPhone 6s release date arrives on September 18th or September 25th. September 18th is more likely as it allows Apple to book a full weekend of iPhone sales into the last fiscal quarter which ends on September 26th.

The timing for the iPhone 6s release date makes sense, but it is unlikely that Foxconn employees know the date.

Dodgy Source

Even though the timing is plausible, if you discount the launch date, the biggest detraction from this iPhone 6s release date rumor’s validity is the source. M.I.C. Gadget delivered some pre-release information about Apple in the past, but in this report the real source of a Foxconn employee is suspect.

At this stage in the iPhone 6s release date timeline it is unlikely that Foxconn employees know the specific iPhone 6s release date and the launch date. Higher level employees may know the month that Apple plans to deliver the new iPhone 6, but this information is not something that many employees will be privy to at this time.

iPhone 6s Details

We expect an iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus that look very similar to the current models. Reports vary on the exact thickness and width, but the latest information suggests no change in size. Inside the iPhone 6s we could see a major change including a faster processor, more power efficient parts that lead to better battery life, more RAM and a boost to both the front and rear cameras.

Another major iPhone 6s upgrade is a Force Touch display that would allow users to press harder on the screen for a different action. We may see a new pink iPhone 6s or a rose gold iPhone 6s. The iPhone 6s may also come with stronger aluminum that prevents bending.

11 iPhone 6s Features We Want in 2015

Wireless Charging

Wireless Charging

It would be amazing to finally get wireless charging in the iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus so that charging would no longer require a Lightning cable. There are adapters and cases to add wireless charging to the iPhone, but the real benefit comes from integrated wireless charging.

Yes, there is still a need for a cable connected to power, but you would no longer need to plug the iPhone in, just set it on a charging mat on your nightstand, on a coffee table at Starbucks or in a wireless charging dock in your car that can deliver power without the need to fumble with a cable.

The wireless charging iPhone 6s feature is all about the convenience of using the iPhone without a cable tethered to it -- and charging remains the only reason you absolutely need a cable with the iPhone.
