Published

on

Yearly video game releases don’t get bigger than the Call of Duty franchise. Every fall, video game publisher Activision and its studios drop another entry in the long-running first-person shooter series. This year we can look forward to the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 release.

Some assumed that this year’s entry in the series would go back to warfare similar to the times we live in. Instead, what buyers will find on Call of Duty Black Ops 3 release day is a game that goes even further into the futuristic combat that we saw in Advanced Warfare.

In this future, body augmentation and implants have become as synonymous as the smartphone and tablet are today. Everyone from military personnel to normal adults seeming have some kind of upgrades done. In some cases, people are replacing entire limbs.. Military personnel with these upgraded appendages have special abilities that make them deadlier than anything we’ve seen in the series before. The multiplayer experience is bigger and better, with different characters to choose from that all have their own back story and special abilities.

With season passes, promotional extras and upgrades, sometimes it’s easy to forget that our favorite games start at the relatively low price of $59.99. Some would argue that we’ve already seen the death of $59.99 games, but that’s not entirely true just yet.

The Call of Duty Black Ops 3 release will bring with it a standard version of the game with no huge frills and very little in the way of huge extras. Costing $59.99, gamers will get access to the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 single player and multiplayer experience. Those who pre-order the game early will also get access to the multiplayer beta taking place over the summer. That Call of Duty Black Ops 3 beta will kick off on August 19th on the PS4 and arrive on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 sometime later.

The PlayStation Store is offers the free supply drop and a theme.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Release: Digital Deluxe Edition

Costing $99.99 is the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Digital Deluxe Edition. This version of the game is almost identical to the standard edition with one major difference. Besides including the digital download for the standard edition version of the game, buyers of this version get the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Season Pass. Having this season pass unlocks all future content coming to Call of Duty Blacks Ops 3 going forward. Activision has also confirmed that it’ll reveal more extras for this version as we get closer to release.

Amazon is selling codes for the PC and PS4 versions of this edition ahead of the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 release date.

Xbox.com says that those who pre-order Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Digital Deluxe Edition today also get two supply drops, and a personalization pack for Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. The PlayStation Store has a free theme and personalization back with its Call of Duty Black Ops 3 pre-orders.

Coming only to GameStop on Call of Duty Black Ops 3 release day is Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Hardened Edition. Since its stuffed with physical goodies for collectors, there’s no digital version of it.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Hardened Edition includes a Steelbook case for the game and limited edition cards with concept art made by the Treyarch. There are some digital extras included with this version of Call of Duty Black Ops 3 too. Buyers get The Giant Zombies Bonus Map, a multiplayer area set in a World War 2 era Nazi research facility. The Giant Zombies Bonus Map includes weapon upgrading and more in the Zombies storyline from earlier games in the series. The Cyborg and Weaponized 115 personalization packs are also included in this version. Notably, you’ll still need to purchase the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Season Pass separately.

GameStop has this version ready for pre-order now at a cost of $79.99.

Costing a whopping $199.99 there’s the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Juggernog Edition version of the game. As its cost suggests, this version gets you the things that are available in other versions. That includes the Giant Zombies Bonus Map, Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Season Pass, Black Ops 3 Soundtrack, personalization packs, Limited Edition Art Cards and the Steelbook case.

The Juggernog Edition takes its name from the Mini-Fridge that acts as its centerpiece. It also comes with a pack of coasters. Pre-orders for this version of the game haven’t become available just yet, but GameStop and Amazon both have information pages about them at the ready.

Remember, the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 release date is set for November 6th. There’ll be versions for Windows PCs, the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4. If you’re planning on purchasing the maps anyway, focus on getting a version with Season Pass included. Only standard editions of the Xbox 360 and PS3 version of the game coming, it seems.

Video game publisher Activision is already preparing for the next epic game in this franchise. It has plans to announce what most are calling Call of Duty 2016 very soon.

The digital deluxe is the best deal for 99.99 (this would cost 120 for hard copy and season pass)
The harden edition gives you some cool stuff but you do not get the season pass… But you do get the giant map.
The digital deluxe comes with season pass.
The season pass includes the giant map.
I ended up getting regular edition and season pass to get giant map which cost 120…. but i like a hard copy of the game.
I don’t think hardened edition is worth it unless you want a personalized pack and some themes….
