7 Things You’ll Love About iOS 8.4

Its been three weeks since the release of iOS 8.4 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. And in those three weeks, we’ve been using the new software on a number of different iPhones and iPads including the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6. iOS 8.4 isn’t perfect but there are some things that we think you’re going to love about it if you decide to install it on your device.

On June 30th, Apple took the iOS 8.4 update out of beta and delivered it to iOS 8 powered iPhones, iPads and iPod touches around the world. The iOS 8.4 update is a much bigger update than most incremental iOS updates and it delivers a number of new features to iOS 8 users around the world.

We, like many others, installed the iOS 8.4 update on our devices immediately after its release. And over the past three weeks, we’ve been digging into the iOS 8.4 update in an effort to bring you feedback about the update for various iPhones and iPads including the iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5 and more.

We’ve been relaying iOS 8.4 feedback but we’ve also seen other iOS 8.4 users offer their own opinions about the iOS 8.4 update. While many people love iOS 8.4 and what it has to offer, others have been complaining about iOS 8.4 problems. Complaints about iOS 8.4 problems continue to this day and it has iPhone and iPad users running older versions of iOS on edge.

After three weeks of use (on the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, and iPad mini 3) it’s clear, at least to us, that the positives vastly outweigh the negatives. Yes iOS 8.4 breaks Home Sharing for Music for iOS but most of you probably don’t use that.

The iOS 8.4 Update Is Stable

As we've noted, we've been using the iOS 8.4 update on a number of different devices including troublemakers like the iPhone 5. And so far, from a performance standpoint, the iOS 8.4 update has been nothing short of outstanding.

iOS 8.4 is extremely stable on the iPad Air 2, iPad Air, and iPad mini 2. We haven't seen any major problems nor have we had any issues with connectivity or battery life. We aren't the only ones having a solid experience on the iPad either.

As for the iPhone, no trouble there either. Apps are working fine, battery life is solid, Wi-Fi and LTE are performing nicely, the UI is fast and fluid, and we haven't noticed any game-changing bugs or issues on board. We haven't heard about any either.

iOS 8.4 is an update that went through an extensive beta period and it's one that arrived with a solid foundation in place. iOS 8.3 was the most stable version of iOS 8 until iOS 8.4 showed up. This stability, especially on older devices like the iPhone 5, is something that we love about the iOS 8.4 update.

Mileage is going to vary from person to person, device to device, but there's a very good chance that iOS 8.4 is going to perform at a high level on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. If you've been dealing with performance issues, and you're already on iOS 8, we think you'll probably like iOS 8.4.
