These tablets are among the most powerful Android tablets available today. Aiming for the high-end segment you'll find the latest and greatest specs in both. With the Galaxy Tab s2 being new, and relatively unknown, we'll start with it.

Galaxy Tab S2 Specs

  • 8 and 9.7-inch 2048 x 1536 Resolution Full HD AMOLED Display
  • 8-core Samsung Exynos processor with 3GB of RAM
  • 32 and 64GB of storage with a micro-SD slot for expansion up to 128GB
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop with Samsung TouchWiz UX (promise to Android M soon)
  • WiFi and 4G LTE options
  • 8 Megapixel rear and 2.1 megapixel front cameras
  • Fingerprint scanner and sensor for security
  • Dual bottom facing speakers
  • Aluminum design
  • 5,870 mAh and 4,000 mAh battery
  • 5.6mm thin

Nexus 9 Specs
  • 8.9-inch 2048×1536 Full HD display (4:3 aspect ratio, and Gorilla Glass 3)
  • NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor with 2GB of RAM (64-bit)
  • 16/32GB storage configurations
  • Android 5.1.1 Lollipop (first device with Android 5.0)
  • 8 Megapixel Rear and 1.6 MP front camera
  • Brushed Aluminum frame, soft touch matte design
  • Dual HTC Boomsound front facing speakers
  • 6,700 mAh battery
  • White, Black, and Sand color options
  • 228.25mm x 153.68mm x 7.95mm and 425 grams

Samsung's Galaxy Tab S2 has a more powerful 8-core processor, more storage, and a micro-SD slot for storage expansion. Something that's very important for tablet owners to load up with videos, movies, and music. The Galaxy Tab S2 is also thinner and lighter than the Nexus 9. Even the big 9.7-inch Tab S2 is lighter than the smaller Nexus 9.

About the only advantage the Nexus 9 does have is dual front facing speakers, which sound excellent, a bigger battery, and the latest version of Android. The Nexus 9 is probably cheaper as well, which brings us to our next topic.

Errrrrhhhmmm. Uhhh, why is my tab s2 8.0 able to play 1440p quad HD videos on YouTube? If it was only 1080p screen then I wouldn’t have the 1440p option on YouTube. Get your facts right.

Mainly, it’s because you’re wrong and the option isn’t controlled by the resolution of your screen.

Umm.. only a true nerd is concerned strictly with specs.. all those specs play a big part in usability.. the premium feel and the user experience offered by the Samsung tablet is far superior to what Google 9 is offering.. imho..
