An annoying PS4 error tells users that their hard drive is full when there is still plenty of room on the PS4 hard drive for new games and updates. The PS4 error code CE-37704 is something that most users can fix on their own, but there is a chance that some users will need to wait for a fix from Sony.

If you try to download a new PS4 game or updates to a PS4 game and see PS4 error code CE-37704, you can try to fix this on your own. The problem ties into a lack of storage space on the PS4, even when the console tells you that there is a lot of storage left.

Here is a closer look at the error and what you need to do to fix it on your PS4 so that you can download games and updates.

If you don’t see the PS4 CE-37704 error, you are lucky, as there is no official fix for it just yet, but there are two options you can try.

The exact error code as reported by Gamertime.co.uk is, “unable to download, not enough system storage, free up at least 134.3 MB more space.”

It appears that some game update files are not deleting or that downloads remain cached in the PS4 storage in some capacity, taking over the storage even though it shows as being available when you go into the main PS4 storage settings to see how much memory you have available.

The first step that you can try to fix the PS4 CE-37704 error code is easy and temporary, but it will allow you to download games and updates.

On your PS4 go to System Storage Management and delete games or updates to make room for the new game. This is frustrating considering the free space that the PS4 reports, but it is an easy way to get around the problem until Sony can issue an update. The video below shows an easy way to delete PS4 games.

If you don’t want to delete PS4 games to solve this issue there is another potential fix that can recover the lost storage on your PS4.

Rebuilding the PS4 database will allow you to recover some of the storage that may be lost and causing the CE-37704 error.

To do this you need to go into PS4 Safe Mode and then choose to Rebuild PS4 database.

Here’s how to enter safe made and rebuild the PS4 database.

  • Turn off your PS4 completely, not just in standby mode.
  • Plug your controller in to the USB port.
  • Press and hold the power button on the PS4 until there is a second beep.
  • Now you are in Safe Mode.
  • Choose Rebuild Database.

This will reboot the PS4 and it will rebuild the database. This can take a long time and you will not be able to play the PS4 while this happens. It may take up to an hour to complete.

Using this option will not work for every user, but it can help fix the CE-37704 error without deleting games on your PS4.

The odds are good that Sony will add in a fix for this problem in a future PS4 software update. The PS4 is currently on 2.57, and we may see other smaller bug fix updates in August 2015.

This error still hasn’t been fixed i have 60 gb free space and I can’t download anything. Rebuild database doesn’t work and deleting the game works but then i have to re download the game and it’s update.
