10 Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Predictions

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 launch date is tomorrow so let’s make some last minute predictions regarding the Galaxy Note 5 launch, Galaxy Note 5 specs and the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date. Here’s how we see things playing out tomorrow and in the weeks ahead.

Samsung still isn’t talking about the Galaxy Note 5 but that’ll probably change once the clock strikes 11AM EST tomorrow. Tomorrow, the company is hosting an Unpacked launch event in New York City. And while it hasn’t spelled out what it will be announcing at the event tomorrow, it’s clear to us (and many others) that the Galaxy Note 5 is going to be star of the show.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be the company’s fifth-generation Galaxy Note and a successor to the Galaxy Note 4. And like the Galaxy Note 4, it’s expected to come with some high-performance specifications that Samsung hopes will make it appealing to those in the hunt for a new smartphone. We should have a better idea once Samsung takes the stage.

Unpacked-Note

Before that happens though, we want to take a stab at the Galaxy Note 5 launch and make some educated guesses about its features, release and more. Here goes.

Tons & Tons of Details

First things first.

Don’t expect Samsung to hold back tomorrow during its Galaxy Note 5 launch event. With smartphone sales sagging and the company clearly trying to get its point across before Apple’s iPhone 6s launch, we expect Samsung to lay it all out there for consumers in the United States and around the world.

Expect the company to go over everything:

  • Release Date
  • Carriers
  • Price
  • Storage
  • Colors
  • Specs

In the past, Samsung’s launch events have come up a little short. A missing detail there, an over-the-top mess there. We expect tomorrow’s Unpacked event to be to the point. And that’s why if you’re even remotely interested in buying this phone, you’d be smart to tune in in the morning.

Galaxy Note 5 Pre-Orders Soon

We expect Samsung Galaxy Note 5 pre-orders to start in the near future, maybe as early as tomorrow or Friday. With a Galaxy Note 5 release date expected to be just around the corner, we expect Samsung and its carrier/retail partners to give people a chance to order early.

Imminent Galaxy Note 5 Release Date

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date is close, at least for those of you in the United States. We don’t have a specific date yet but rumors and leaks have helped us zero in on a pretty specific window.

If Samsung is trying to get out ahead of the iPhone, then it makes sense for the company to get the actual product out ahead of the iPhone. All signs point to a speedy Galaxy Note 5 release date this year.

We’ve seen it pass through the FCC and other certification bodies. We’ve seen Galaxy Note 5 release date rumors point to an August release date. We’ve seen reports point to a focus on the North American market (this is probably why the Galaxy Note 5 launch is in New York). And we’ve seen new evidence point to a fast Galaxy Note 5 release, at least on Sprint.

We’d be surprised if we made it out of August without a Galaxy Note 5 release date in the U.S. and other key regions like Japan and China.

Carriers in U.S.

We already know that the Galaxy Note 5 will be available on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. All three models cleared the FCC and they’re confirmed.

We have yet to see the Galaxy Note 5 emerge for T-Mobile or U.S. Cellular, two top U.S. carriers, and two carriers that have carried every single Galaxy Note 5 model since the Galaxy Note 2.

We’d be shocked, shocked, if the UnCarrier failed to offer the Galaxy Note 5. T-Mobile is now the third largest carrier in the United States and it’s a likely destination for the Galaxy Note 5. We’d also be surprised if the fifth largest carrier, U.S. Cellular, passed on the Galaxy Note 5.

We wouldn’t expect any carriers beyond that though. Smaller pre-paid and regional carriers haven’t shown a willingness to carry the Galaxy Note over the years and there’s really no reason to believe that things will change this year.

We’re expecting U.S. carriers to have a ton of details for us tomorrow.

Galaxy Note 5 Deals

Android Central’s already leaked one Galaxy Note 5 trade-in deal from Sprint that will net you $200 off the Galaxy Note 5. We’re not expecting huge day one price cuts on the Galaxy Note 5 but we’d expect there to be a few trade-in deals to emerge around the phone’s release date.

Galaxy Note 4 Price Cuts

Carriers and retailers won’t be able to charge full price for the Galaxy Note 4 with a Galaxy Note 5 on sale. So, expect the Galaxy Note 4 price to fall.

Galaxy-Note-5-2

We’ve already seen some deals emerge but we expect a fresh round price cuts to happen right when the Galaxy Note 5 goes on sale. If you’re already set on buying the Galaxy Note 5, you probably don’t care. But if tomorrow’s launch doesn’t sell you on the new model, you’ll be feeling thankful. The Galaxy Note 4 is still a fantastic phone with a lot to offer.

Expensive Galaxy Note 5 Price

Be prepared to shell out for this phone. Samsung’s already cutting the price of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge to help usher in the arrival of the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+. Both devices are premium phones and both will command premium price points.

We’d expect a $299.99 on-contract price point for the Galaxy Note 5 and we’d be surprised if carriers sold the base 32GB model for anything less than $650 off-contract. The Galaxy Note with its big screen, flashy hardware, and bundled S Pen stylus is never cheap.

New Design

We’ve seen a ton of Samsung Galaxy Note 5 photos emerge ahead of launch and it’s very clear that Samsung’s new Galaxy Note comes with a design language that’s similar to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

These photos probably aren’t fake. The Galaxy Note 5 is probably coming with a glass/metal design with a tapered back, no microSD card slot, a non-removable battery, a fingerprint sensor, and a design that’s thin but not as thin as the iPhone 6 Plus.

Software Features

One thing that we haven’t heard a lot about is the Galaxy Note 5’s software. We’ve heard that it might come with some tweaks to Air Command and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop but that’s about it.

Our best guess at this point is that the software will come with Android 5.1.1 (not Android M), some changes to S Pen software, and a version of TouchWiz that’s similar to the Galaxy S6’s. Samsung really toned down the bloat with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge UI and it was a welcomed change.

We’d expect at least some of these features to be exclusive to the Galaxy Note 5, at least for now as it tries to sell consumers on an expensive Galaxy Note 5 over the cheaper Galaxy Note 4.

The Specs That You’re Expecting

And finally, expect the Galaxy Note 5 to come with the specifications that rumors have outed time and time again over the past few weeks. Samsung’s really done a horrible job keeping this phone under wraps but maybe, just maybe, that was by design.

Here’s what we’re expecting from the Galaxy Note 5 specs:

We’d expect the cameras to be on par with the Galaxy S6’s cameras (this is a good thing) and for the device to feature solid battery life. We understand the reservations about the 3,000 mAh size but we trust that Samsung knows what it’s doing.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5: 10 Things Buyers Can Count On

Galaxy Note 5 Release Date Soon

Galaxy Note 5 Release Date Soon

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 launch date is confirmed for August 13th but the Galaxy Note 5 release date is still shrouded in mystery as we approach the device's highly anticipated launch.

As we noted over the weekend, we're expecting the Galaxy Note 5 release date to land a few days after the announcement for a few reasons which include the iPhone 6s release date.

You can count on a Galaxy Note 5 release date in August but you shouldn't expect every single region and every single carrier to get the Galaxy Note 5 on the first day.

Count on a widespread global Galaxy Note 5 release but know that these things take time. Not even Apple is able to get the iPhone out to everyone all at once. The supply chain has its limitations.

You can count on big markets like South Korea, Japan and the United States being among the first to get the device. And with Samsung (and its partners) clearly trying to get this phone out before the iPhone 6s, you can count on a ton of release dates taking place before September 9th
