2015 Nexus 5 Specs

We know what the Nexus 5 will look like thanks to a slew of leaked photos, renders, and even schematics sent to case manufacturers, but the internal specs and hardware are still a mystery. That's because we've heard two different reports over and over regarding the screen, battery, and processor inside that will run Android 6.0 M. We don't know what is right, and the image above was reportedly debunked by newer details last week. Below are the latest specs from sources we think are accurate, not other leaks from back in August.

Nexus 5 2015 Specs (Rumored)

  • 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080p Full HD Display (not Quad-HD)
  • 6-core Snapdragon 808 Processor (Like the LG G4)
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 16/32GB of storage (not 32 and 64GB)
  • 13 Megapixel Camera with image stabilization, laser auto-focus, and more
  • 5 megapixel front camera
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow
  • Fingerprint Scanner
  • USB Type-C Port
  • 2,700 mAh Battery
  • more

That sounds like a pretty decent phone, but two important aspects have changed from earlier rumors. Those being the screen and battery. If Google intends to keep this wallet-friendly, a 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display won't be inside this phone, and that's why latest rumors are suggesting a 1080p screen. That's fine by me, as it'll still look great, and keep battery life in check.

We also heard the Nexus 5 will have a 3,180 mAh battery, which is much bigger than the Nexus 5 from 2013 which was only a 2,300 mAh battery. That said, the Nexus 6 last year was 3,240 mAh.

A 2,700 mAh battery inside an efficient 5.2-inch device with fast charging, wireless charging, and running Android 5.0 Marshmallow should still last for more than a day, and perform excellent. We don't know which rumor is right, but hopefully have less than a month before we'll know for sure and can pre-order one.
