5 Things Not to Expect at the iPhone 6s Event

Apple’s iPhone 6s event will take place next week on September 9, where the company will unveil the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, the iPhone 6c, iOS 9, and the new Apple TV 4. However, there are five things not to expect at the iPhone 6s event.

Because of all the rumors that fly around about Apple products, there are usually no surprises when event day rolls around, and the only thing that people are excited about is finally hearing all of the details come officially from Apple instead of the rumor mill.

The iPhone 6s, the iPhone 6c, and the new Apple TV 4 have all been heavily rumored over the last few months, and reports have said that we should expect to see these products unveiled at Apple’s September 9 event. Thus, these three products will be the talking points next week, as well as iOS 9, which will most likely release to the public a few days before the iPhone 6s officially releases.

However, there are a handful of Apple products that we won’t see during Apple’s September 9 event. Here are five things not to expect at the company’s iPhone 6s event next week.

New MacBooks

If you’re thinking about buying a new MacBook, but want to wait until Apple’s September 9 event to see if new MacBooks are released, we’d recommend just going ahead and buying a MacBook right now, as new MacBooks will likely not be on Apple’s agenda next week.

This is especially since the company already released new MacBooks earlier this year, with the 2015 MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, as well as the new 12-inch MacBook. Of course, it’s not uncommon for Apple to release new MacBooks twice a year, but the company already has a lot on its plate for next week’s event.

Apple Watch 2

While Apple announced the Apple Watch last year during its iPhone 6s event, it’s unlikely that the company will announce the Apple Watch 2 this year.

The Apple Watch is still a very new device, officially released to the public just earlier this year, and while we’re not quite sure how often Apple will release a new Apple Watch, we probably won’t hear about the second generation model until next year at the earliest.

In any case, smartwatches are an interesting product and the Apple Watch probably won’t have the same yearly release cycle as the iPhone or iPad.

New iPads

While it’s been rumored that Apple could show off new iPads during its iPhone 6s event, I simply don’t see that as being likely.

As mentioned earlier, Apple will have enough on its plate next week with the iPhone 6s and the Apple TV. Plus, Apple usually hosts another event in October to announce new iPads. It’s highly unlikely that Apple will combine the two events and make it a three-hour presentation.

The iPad Pro is rumored to be announced this year, and it’s possible that Apple could unveil it next week, but it still seems way more likely that Apple will hold all iPad announcements for October.

New iPods

Apple released a new iPod Touch earlier this year, arriving with a pretty decent upgrade over the old model, and while the other iPods in the lineup didn’t receive much attention, it’s unlikely that Apple will focus on them during next week’s event.

Even if Apple does release new iPods during its iPhone 6s event, they probably won’t be big upgrades at all, especially if we’re talking about the iPod Nano and the iPod Shuffle — two devices that simply aren’t worth talking about anymore, compared to the iPhone and even the iPod Touch.

The important thing is that the iPod Touch got the upgrade it needed and now Apple is focused on the iPhone 6s.

OS X El Capitan

Apple will discuss iOS 9 next week and provide us with a release date, which means that we should hear about OS X El Capitan as well, right? Not exactly.

We probably won’t hear about OS X El Capitan until Apple’s iPad event in October, where the company will most likely provide a release date for the new operating system.

The new version of OS X will have the same look and feel as OS X Yosemite, but will arrive with a handful of new features, including better Spotlight Search functionality and other performance improvements that users will enjoy.
