Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection PS4 Bundle Release Revealed

Potential PS4 buyers won’t have to purchase Sony’s Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection anthology on its own this fall and holiday shopping season. Like the Destiny Taken King PS4 Bundle it revealed earlier this year, Sony has a special buy for users who haven’t picked up its PS4 gaming console and want the latest blockbuster game from its stable of new titles: The Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection PS4 Bundle.

Sony announced the Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection PS4 Bundle last week in a post on its PlayStation Blog. Starting October 9th, anyone and everyone who wants to upgrade to the PS4 and relieve their Uncharted experience without making a separate purchase can.

The Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection PS4 Bundle acts as the ultimate lead-in to next year’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End release on PS4. All three versions of the game available to PS4 users. Today the franchise includes Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Sony says each game has been “re-mastered.” Expect upgraded graphics for sure. This is possible because of the PS4’s upgraded internal hardware. Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection does include a new Photo Mode that allows users to snap pictures of its visually improved cinematics and exotic locations. Snapping shots wasn’t without extra stuff on screen wasn’t something that players could do in any of these Uncharted games originally.

The Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection PS4 Bundle will go on sale in the United States for $399.99 and in Canada for $449.99. $399 is the standard price of a PS4 gaming console in the United States so buyers aren’t really paying any extra for the included nostalgia trip.

The Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection PS4 bundle includes a solid black PS4 gaming console with 500GB of storage that is identical to the one Sony launched in 2013. Every PS4 bundle includes a PlayStation DualShock 4 controller, a PS4 Mono headset a single HDMI cable and a USB cable. The Mono headset is for voice chatting with other PlayStation Network users while playing multiplayer games. The USB cable is for connecting and recharging the wireless DualShock 4 controller without making a separate purchase. The HDMI cable is for connecting the PS4 directly to a television site without having to purchase anything extra, which is a nice touch. Everything users need to get started is inside the Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection PS4 bundle when they get home. That is, except for a subscription to Sony’s PlayStation Network gaming service.

A free trial is include din the box, but a few days or even a month of PlayStation Network won’t be enough. The service allows users to connect to Sony’s servers and play their games online with friends. That’s key because the Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 have a very robust multiplayer experiences built-in. Users can team up with a friend over the PlayStation Network to complete the game’s single player story mode, for example.

That’s despite Amazon already taking pre-orders for the next major release in the series, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Anyone who purchases a copy of the Nathan Drake Collection gets access to the Uncharted 4 beta. Online and physical retailer GameStop does have the Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection PS4 Bundle ready for pre-order on its site. Anyone who pre-orders the Nathan Drake Collection there gets character skins from the past three games in the series, a wetsuit skin, a skin inspired by a trip to Nepal and two gold-plated weapons to use with their character.
