iPhone 6s Plus vs LG G4: 6 Things to Consider

Earlier this week Apple finally debuted the often-rumored new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Two of its best smartphones ever released. And while they look just like last year, they’re very different in multiple ways. For those considering the bigger iPhone 6s Plus, here’s how it compares to another quality 5.5-inch smartphone that runs Android, the LG G4.

In April LG took the stage and unveiled its best smartphone yet, the stunning LG G4 with an excellent camera, big and bright display, and multiple genuine hand-made leather backs for customization. It hit the market in early July, and has a good lead on the iPhone. These are two excellent phones that should be on all buyers radar.

Back in September of last year, Apple unveiled the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with bigger screens to finally try and compete with Android, and steal back customers that left for big 5.5-inch or bigger screens. This year Apple is building on the popularity of its first “phablet” with the new iPhone 6s Plus, and here we’ll be comparing a few key differences between it and the similarly sized LG G4.

Just as we all expected and like Apple has done for years, the company stuck to its usual 2-year release cycle by delivering a device just like last year, but added an “s” to the name. The new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus look the same, but they’ve made huge improvements across the board. Everything is better from the 12 megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, iOS 9 and more.

Samsung and Apple have been battling for years over consumers dollars, but now that Apple has a big 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus, it has to compete with many other Android smartphones at the same time, not just against Samsung. As a result, many considering the bigger iPhone are also looking at the LG G4, Moto X Pure Edition, OnePlus 2, or even the Galaxy Note 5.

With the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus set to go up for pre-order this weekend, and available in a few weeks on Friday September 25th, buyers have a tough choice to make. To help ease the decision, here’s everything that’s important about the iPhone 6s Plus in comparison to LG’s G4 with the same size 5.5-inch HD display.

Apple avoided and even talked trash about big screen smartphones for years, then in 2014 finally made a much-needed change and released a 4.7 and 5.5-inch iPhone. This was needed considering so many had moved to Samsung, LG and others.

This year the new iPhone 6s Plus is exactly the same as last year and has a beautiful big display, but so does the LG G4.

Apple's iPhone 6s Plus delivers content on a big 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080p "Retina Display" which looks great. However, the LG G4 has the same 5.5-inch display size in a smaller package, and with a higher 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display. The colors are better, text is crisp, but oddly enough the viewing angles are rather poor. Regular users will probably get more from the G4, but if others are viewing it from the side, color accuracy starts to fade. That aside, it's an excellent phone that won an Editors' Choice Award here at Gotta Be Mobile.

When it comes to which will actually look better, we can't say until we get our hands on the new iPhone 6s Plus. At the same time, having a lower 1080p HD resolution doesn't help Apple, even if they consistently offer some of the best screens on mobile devices.

It's worth noting that while these phones both have the same size 5.5-inch screen, the LG G4 is a lot smaller, but somewhat wider. The iPhone 6s Plus is big, and tall. Both phones are a great choice.
