iOS 9.0.1 Problems Plague Users

Published

on

Yesterday, Apple released a brand new iOS 9.0.1 update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. While the update comes with some crucial bug fixes, iOS users are also saying that it brings some iOS 9 problems of its own.

Earlier this month, Apple announced that it would be bringing its initial iOS 9 update to iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users on September 16th. On September 16th, Apple delivered its highly anticipated iOS 9 update to users around the world.

The iOS 9.0 update brings a number of changes to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch includes new features, enhancements and for some users, problems. iOS 9 problems have been a problem since last week and Apple’s already taking steps to squash them.

How-to-Upgrade-to-iOS-9.0.1

Apple’s rolled out an iOS 9.0.1 update that addresses some of these initial iOS 9 problems. The update contains fixes for broken alarms, issues with APN and a fix for a problem with the operating system’s upgrade tool. It also appears to have some problems of its own on board.

In addition to these crucial bug fixes, iPhone and iPad users are reporting iOS 9.0.1 problems. Some of these issues can be traced back to the initial iOS 9.0 update while others are emerging for the first time with iOS 9.0.1.

Shortly after yesterday’s iOS 9.0.1 release, iPhone and iPad users started complaining about various iOS 9.0.1 installation issues that prevented them from installing the brand new bug fix update on board their device.

Instead of long download times, users have been complaining about verification issues and downloads getting stuck. These are extremely common iOS problems and there are several workarounds that users should try if the issues persist.

Whats-New-iOS-9.0.1-update-1

These issues have since been joined by a collection of other iOS 9.0.1 problems that are hampering the performance on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Apple’s discussion forums are littered with complaints about Apple’s new iOS 9 update and the problems appear to be affecting most iPhone and iPad models.

Issues with apps and the App Store continue to plague iPhone and iPad users after the iOS 9.0.1 release date. Users have reported an inability to download and install new app updates, some of which come with support for the iOS 9 update.

This issue first emerged last week and fortunately, there are some quick fixes that struggling iPhone and iPad users will want to try.

iPhone and iPad users are also complaining about an assortment of other iOS 9.0.1 problems including disappearing call logs, issues with the cellular data toggle for apps, problems with swiping gestures, problems with data, issues with the new Search features, and lag in the Game Center.

iOS 9.0.1 users are also complaining about vanishing wallpapers, response issues with the iPhone touchscreen, problems with Contacts, lag on the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 5, and problems with the volume bar.

And while we didn’t see too many complaints about bad iOS 9.0 battery life, a number of iOS 9.0.1 users are complaining about bad iOS 9.0.1 battery life.

We’re also seeing complaints about Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and an assortment of complaints about Apple’s new Music platform.

These complaints are just the tip of the iceberg from Apple’s official forums. There are many other iOS 9.0.1 problems out there and we expect to see more emerge as we push away from the iOS 9.0.1 release date.

Those who are dealing with iOS 9.0.1 issues should consult Apple’s discussion forums or another popular forum, look at these iOS battery life tips and take a look at some of these proven fixes for common iOS 9 problems. If none of these fixes work, it might be worth taking the device into an Apple Store.

Apple doesn’t announce incremental bug fix updates ahead of time though we could see the company deliver an iOS 9.0.2 update ahead its upcoming iOS 9.1 update later this year.

iOS 9 users have discovered an iOS 9 passcode flaw that exposes the users contacts and photos. Apple hasn’t responded to that issue, or any other issues, so iOS 9.0.1 users are on their own. For the time being at least.

5 Reasons Not to Install iOS 9.0.1 & 3 Reasons To Do It

Install iOS 9.0.1 If You Depend on Alarms & Timers

Install iOS 9.0.1 If You Depend on Alarms & Timers

If you are dependent on alarms and timers (and we imagine that many of you are for work/cooking/etc.), you might want to consider installing the iOS 9.0.1 update right now. It comes with an important fix for, you guessed it, alarms and timers.

While we didn't run into any problems during our time with iOS 9.0, it appears that some people noticed that there alarms and timers were failing to go off. That's not good, especially if you depend on your alarm to wake up for work at a certain time in the morning.

We've been using the iOS 9.0.1 update for more than a day now and we've been testing our alarms and timers to make sure that they work. So far so good.

iPhone 4S with IOS9 just quits in the middle of what ever I’m doing and starts all over with the Apple in the black screen. IOS 9 really sucks as many new other Apple products. Is it time to switch to Windows?

Android maybe. Windows phone is dying off I think. I don’t like the size and weight of the new iPhones either.

IOS 9.0.1 – suddenly restarts with Apple logo on black screen. Happens randomly. Did not happen before IOS 9.

So does Apple have a testing organization yet? Are the users now being used as Beta testers? This company is no better than Microsoft or anyone else. I spent 2 1/2 hours recovering my i-phone Wednesday evening.

Massive battery issues with my iPhone 5 on iOS 9.0.1.
Came down to 27% at 10 a.m. when it normally has 70-80%.
I immediately activated battery safe mode on 27% and only 40 minutes later listening to music the phone went of.
Never had such problems before. This is insane!

iPhone 5s – new iOS drains battery horribly, and nearly all the drop down menus stopped working on all the apps I use. For example, entering a state in a drop down menu, simply does not respond. Drop down menus for inputting month and year of expiration for a credit card purchase… doesn’t work. Cannot do transactions or searches. Visit the same sites on a PC and all works fine. How can Apple be so negligent to release an operating system without basic functionality tests that should be part of the pre release testing of EVERY iOS? Kinda destroys their image in my mind. This is the first time since the iPhone came out that I am considering switching brands on my next upgrade. Pathetic,

did you ever solve this? I have the same problem, if I boot into safe mode it works fine, it might be jailbreak related, but I don’t have any packages that should relate to drop down function

Updated to 9.0.1 last night. Huge regret.. My phone was unable to be charged via wall plug charger or computer usb.. Unable to connect to itunes so i wasnt able to downgrade to previous OS..i tried everything i googled across (from hard resetting a mil times and also a factory reset.. Sacrificing all my photos and other files.. Since i cant backup with cloud, as the provided storage size is so freaking small) praying for possible solutions but it was simple a waste of a whole day… Went back to my trusty nexus 5 with android i can rely on.. Waste of my money and time.. Steve jobs would never have allowed the release of such a stupid update.
Paid a premium for this piece of brick.. Now i gotta waste my time going to the store to get a replacement..

I am been having problems since the iOS 9 and now the 9.1 isn’t any better. My emails are constantly asking for passwords, my other apps keep closing out on me when I open them. I which I could go back to the previous one (8 whatever number it was). It’s not just happening on my 6plus but also my pad and it is extremely annoying. When will this problem be fixed?!!

My wife and I both just updated to 9.0.1 and have had problems. Mainly slow download speeds or the inability to download at all. Also. I cannot get to some websites at all, such as my banking website. This is not a problem with my ISP or my modem/router. My HP laptop continues to work fine on our setup.

Lack of audible response (bonk bonk) when holding down home button means I don’t know if Siri is listening unless I look at the phone.

When I assume she’s listening and say “call so-and-so” I don’t know if she got the whole command or just part of it without looking at the phone.

Before upgrading to ios 9, I could use the phone while driving without ever having to take my eyes off the road but now I can’t use my phone at all this way.

Used to be I could hear the bonk bonk and say, “Play Satisfation” which is on an album I bought from iTunes. Now it gives me “Here’s what I found on the web..”

Used to be able to call a store in my contacts by command but now it gives me the store’s web page.

Used to be able to get into bed and say to my phone on the docking station, “Hey Siri – wake me at 7AM” and she’d come back with “Your alarm is set for 7AM; don’t worry, I won’t forget”. Now I have to pick up the phone and watch for the prompt that she’s listening and say the command at least two or three times and there’s a lag of about 1 to 2 minutes while she recognizes my words and meaning and finally sets the alarm.

Congratulations, Apple! You really screwed the pooch, this time!

Had no known issues with the 9.0 upgrade, so I readily upgraded to the 9.0.1. HUGE mistake. One of the main functions of my iPhone 5 is as my music hub. After removing the shuffle all music option in the 8.4 upgrade, they restored it in the 9.0 update and I was happy … for about a week. Now I have no shuffle capability at all. The shuffle option is there, but my music won’t shuffle within my library, a playlist or an artist section. No shuffling at all. This means I have to hand select every song I want to hear.

I’m so tired of these premature and utterly faulty updates by Apple. I love the intuitive functioning of the iphone, but I never had these basic function problems with the Droid.

Also my battery life has been noticeably reduced. Anyone know any fixes for the music issue? Have searched high and low without a result.

Have lost iTunes and App Store icons with either iOS 9.0 or iOS 9.0.1. Can’t figure how to get them back. Also, twice now, when moving an email to a folder from my In Box, all of the emails in the In Box are moved to the chosen folder, even though only one was checked under Edit.

My issue is that almost every time I start an app, the screen goes black. I press the option bitten and then start the app again, and now it works.

It’s as if the multitasking feature is drawing the new app on a hidden canvas.

I’ve had several of the same issues as noted above since upgrading to iOS 9.01 1) Alarm is unreliable 2) When I hold the home button-no double tone followed by Siri asking if she can help me 3) blank sound text box randomly inserts itself into my active text and I can’t get rid of it-also just realized once it shows up in one text conversation its actually there in all! 4) My notes duplicate each time I update/edit them 5) Battery is draining at a ridiculous rate even with location turned off (huge problem!) 6) Phone forces you to enter passcode or finger print to enter-cannot bypass this( even when the feature is turned off in privacy settings!)
These are the basic features I count on for phone use! HELP! Apple needs to address this immediately!

Also made the mistake of downloading the 9.0.1 update. Like other said… DRAINS my battery so fast. I am SO peeved! And it totally messed up my connections. I can not use any apps or access anything unless I am on WiFi. Verizon has been great helping me but I will to completely factory reset it if it does not help or get a new a phone. Why does Apple release this stuff when it is truly not ready. I am quickly becoming a hater of Apple…thinking this may be it for me!

horrible – worst update ever. messenger is broken, settings reset by themselves, screen freezes when typing email……. the list goes on. very disappointed. I expect better from company that sells a $900 device. for gods sake, just let me go back to the system that was on it when I bought it.

ios 9.o brought a problem with emails I erased still showing up in the screen though they where erased…. ios 9.0.1 ended up killing all my emails!!!!!
Battery doesn’t charge properly…. and drains too quick.
Of course apple has some fixes…. “Turn off half of the things you normally use”!!!
don’t want 9.02 until it is vetted. Want 8.4.1 back. Why fix something that was not broke??????
Cant we sue apple to go back and sign 8.4.1?
We are supposed to trust apple which I did until last week…… Seriously considering a change in technology.

Running IOS 9.0.2 on my 6 Plus. The biggest shame with this update is that if you have a business addy that you manually stored with “umpteen” dept numbers and names/numbers IOS will only show you the “web address” for said listed business in contacts when you search for “your” contact. Worse, unless you delete the contact recreate it and store all the same numbers under an alias that SIRI cannot recognize, IOS will forever associate the metadata from your manually created contact with that of the web address and continue to show you a map result contact instead of the precious contact you entered into your book. It still stores the updated information inside that contact but to access it you mush first press “edit” to see the detail inside the contact. What is point of creating your own contacts if you can’t see them called up when you search for them. I’m begging Apple to remove the “contact for dummies” search feature. I see little to no complaints from anyone on the web and it’s week 3 since this release came out.

This is so ridiculous I have an iPadmini and I supposedly “upgraded” it to the “new and improved” iOS 9.0.1. It was the biggest regret of my life. ill just list a couple of the issues
    1) there is absolutely no more screen recorders for iOS 9.
    2) some games that I play won’t even open and would just go back to the home screen every time I open the app.
    3) I can’t access Game Center because every time I open the app the screen just stays white.
    4) every single email I have got DELETED, yea you heard me, DELETED.
that’s just some of the crazy issues Apple needs to fix. I remember I had minecraft before this crap update, and now it won’t even let me play it. 7 dollars wasted by updating apples stupid device. What is this bs

My Siri is legit so bad right now. I used to be able to say “hey Siri, wake me up at 7:30” and she’d set my alarms no problem, but now she adds a cheeky “don’t worry, I won’t forget” to that and my alarm doesn’t actually set! I’ve nearly been late for two exams this week, baffled as to how I could’ve slept through my alarm until I was lying awake in bed this morning and checked the time only to realise that it was 15 minutes past when my alarm was meant to go off. I tried again asking Siri to wake me up at 8:30 and the whole “your alarm is set don’t worry I won’t forget” thing came up and I checked my alarms in the clock app and the alarms weren’t on. Apple you need to sort this shit out. 9.0.1 sucks.

Can’t open the phone – can’t slide the button over; phone times out and I have to turn on again.
When I finally get the button over it won’t accept the pass code.
When It finally accepts the pass code (after two or three tries) everything is in slow motion and every move hesitates to the point that I think I have to re-do it.
When I ask Siri something I can’t tell if it is turned on or not. When I finally get Siri engaged it can’t find my son’s phone number which has been in my iphone since the ipone2 came out.
I have tried everything I have read on the internet to “fix” the issues and have updated to 9.0.1 or whatever the last one was and i still doesn’t work.

IOS 9.0.1 the worst yet. IOS 6 was the best, you could clear all that diagnostic crud and you could sort videos by group. The iOS 6 apps were the best too like the ios6 eBay app was excellent, the current eBay app sucks. IOS 6 fast too and music player best too. Yes IOS 6 is absolutely the best apple will EVER be IOS 9.0.1 is just MORE bad that started with ios7
