Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Android M was announced earlier this year as the successor to Android 5.0 Lollipop, and we've been running early developer previews of this software for months. Tomorrow Google will take the stage, unveil a few additional features they were saving for the final release, and get it rolling out to all other current Nexus devices as well.

Android 5.1 Lollipop will be replaced by Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and it will debut on the new Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. However, it will also start rolling out to the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player starting on October 5th. As over the air updates, and typical factory images posted by Google themselves. That could mean the new Nexus 6P will ship on October 5th, but that isn't confirmed. We know it will be available for pre-order on the 29th, but we're not sure when they'll ship. A few reports also suggest the release and pre-order of the Nexus 5X and 6P will be very smooth. Rather than site crashes, out of inventory issues, and other problems that plagued the last few Nexus launches. Google plans to eliminate all of that this year by selling them right through it's own store.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings tons of new features to the table. Permission controls, Fingerprint support, Google Now on Tap, Android Pay, Doze battery saving features, and much more. This Android 5.1 vs Android 6.0 walkthrough has a few details for those interested, and we'll learn all the final features come tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the big day. Who's excited, and which Nexus are you buying?
