10 Nexus Android Marshmallow Release Date Tips

Published

on

Today is the first Nexus Android Marshmallow release date but it won’t be the last. Google will be releasing the update for Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, and Nexus 9 in stages which means we’ll see multiple release dates. With that in mind, we want to offer some Nexus Android Marshmallow release date tips to help you before, on and after your big day.

On September 29th, Google took to the stage to show off a number of new products including a new Nexus 5, a new Nexus 6, a new Chromecast, and the Android Marshmallow update that it initially confirmed back at Google I/O.

The company once again showed off its many features and enhancements. It also confirmed a Nexus Android 6.0 release date for October 5th. Earlier today, as promised, Google started rolling out the Android Marshmallow update to the Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 9, Nexus 7 2013, and Nexus Player.

As expected, the update comes with some significant changes. It doesn’t look a whole lot different than the Android Lollipop update that came before it but there are a ton of differences on board. It’s a substantial update for Nexus users who have been waiting since May for an official release.

Google’s announcement date confirmed the roll out but it was light on the rest of the details. We know that the update has begun but the company stressed that it will take some time.

The updates are available in AOSP. And while the Nexus Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA has started, the updates aren’t widespread. Not yet at least.

With that in mind, we want to help make the Android 6.0 Marshmallow release date as stress-free as possible for owners of Nexus users. This is what we do every time Google rolls out a new update and these tips should come in handy if you’re new to Android or you just need some additional guidance with your Android 6.0 update.

Your Nexus Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date

Your Nexus Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date

Today is the first Android 6.0 Marshmallow release date for Nexus users. But unless you install it manually, there's a very good chance you won't see the update arrive for your Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus 7, or Nexus Player.

While it would be nice if Google rolled out Android 6.0 to everyone at the same time, that's not how Google roll outs work. Predicting your exact Nexus Android 6.0 release date is going to be close to impossible. So is predicting your Android 6.0 Marshmallow release time.

Android updates can appear at all hours of the day. We've gotten prompts at 8:30AM and we've gotten them at 11PM. Updates roll out randomly in stages and Google's already confirmed Android 6.0 will follow standard procedure.

If you're not familiar with Google's Nexus Android roll out process, here's a Google engineer describing the roll out process in great detail. You're going to need to remain patient and check your device a couple of times a day.

Google's Android roll outs typically take a few weeks so it could be a few days or even a few weeks before you see the prompt for Android 6.0.

The title is wrong I think, should be “Some time” not “sometime” :)

You can also use multirom as well and load up Lollipop as a fallback.

After my 6 upgrade, battery life went way down. I checked everything in this article and then some. Got rid of battery app even. What I found is the wi-fi was on even though it was set to be off when asleep – the only way was to manually turn off wi-fi and that cut the drain. I use a Kindle app so I don’t know if that was a contributor or not. Could there be a bug in the OS for the wi-fi sleep?

in my case I had used a fake APN to disable regular internet traffic while keeping mms and other free data. That seriously drained the battery fast.

On my nexus 6, I lost the ringer disable timeline option. No longer can I select permanent. temporary or on when I use my volume button on the phone side. I also get a phantom notification box on the status bar at the top of the screen.

I have not installed any apps since it upgraded.
