Buyers will quickly see some of the similarities, but also the differences. The Galaxy S6 has been awarded the best camera of any smartphone, and still holds that crown. It has a slightly smaller display but with a higher resolution, so it will look better, and features an all aluminum design. Rather than the plastic soft-touch matte finish on the Nexus 5X.

The Nexus 5X has a lower resolution display and a bigger battery, so should technically have much better battery life than the Galaxy S6, but we'll have to wait and see. However, it doesn't feature wireless charging, although the last few years all Nexus devices have.

Samsung's phone has a few areas that are better. Like wireless charging, the design and build quality, the camera and other things, but these phones are closer than most would have initially though.
