Nexus 5X vs Galaxy S6: Camera & Battery

As we mentioned during the specs area, these phones are somewhat similar, but also pretty different. Two areas that have always been a concern for Google's Nexus phones was the camera and battery life. These are also two areas that Samsung has excelled as of late, which makes them the most popular smartphone manufacturer on the planet.

That said, this year Google made huge changes. The Nexus 5x has a bigger 2,700 mAh battery (Galaxy S6 is only 2,550 mAh) which should last much longer, and it has a great camera as well.

The results are still out, as it was just announced, but an independent camera review website, DxOMark, gave Samsung's new 16 megapixel first place, with the Nexus 6P coming in second. The Nexus 6P is ahead of the iPhone 6, LG G4, and many others. The only camera that beats it, is Samsung's latest phones. That same camera is inside of the Nexus 5X, a big 12.3 megapixel camera with a 1.55 um sensor to let in more light, but it doesn't have as much processing power to be as capable. The Nexus 5X will probably be 3-5th on the list in terms of camera, slightly beat out by Samsung, but not by far.

If the camera is extremely important to buyers, the Galaxy S6 edges out Google's new phone here, but not by much. Is the camera worth the trade-off for slow updates, lower battery life, but a metal design? You decide.
