Nexus 5X vs iPhone 6s: Specs & Hardware

The Nexus 5X is Google's first Nexus with good battery life (hopefully), a fingerprint scanner, and dual front facing speakers in a sleek and small design. It's one of Google's best phone yet aside from the bigger Nexus 6P that's made of aluminum, and packs quite a punch that should be able to compete with the new iPhone 6s. Both phones run a different operating system, so comparing specs isn't all that important, but some like to see it all spelled out. That said, here are the numbers and details.

iPhone 6s Specs

  • 4.7-inch 1334 x 750p HD Retina Display
  • Apple A9 Dual-core processor with 2GB of RAM
  • 16/64/128GB internal storage (no micro-SD slot)
  • iOS 9
  • 12 Megapixel iSight Rear Camera (4k video recording)
  • 5 Megapixel front camera with Retina Flash (using the screen at max brightness)
  • 1,715 mAh battery (smaller than iPhone 6)
  • Touch ID Fingerprint Scanner
  • 3D Touch Feature
  • Aluminum Design
  • Single bottom-facing speaker
  • more

Nexus 5X Specs
  • 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080p Full HD AMOLED Display
  • 6-core Snapdragon 808 processor with 2GB of RAM
  • 16 or 32GB of storage (no micro-SD slot)
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow
  • 12.3 Megapixel Camera (1.55 um), Laser auto-focus, 120 FPS Slow-motion, more
  • 5 Megapixel front
  • Rear Fingerprint Scanner
  • Dual front-facing speakers
  • 2,700 mAh battery
  • Fast Charging
  • USB Type-C port

As you can see these two phones have smaller screens than most, good cameras, fingerprint technology and more. However, the Nexus 5x comes with different storage options, what could be a similar or better camera, excellent front-facing speakers and a bigger battery that should last all day, then recharge quick. Google made sure to mention it's new Nexus phones recharge faster than the iPhone.

At the same time, Apple has a great camera, TouchID, a tried and tested quality design, and everything buyers love about iOS 9. On paper the Nexus 5x reads better, but iOS 9 vs Android makes the specs not too important. But everyone has different needs, wants, or budget.

It's hard to compare the two in terms of specs, as the dual-core processor and 2GB of RAM is plenty for the iPhone, because iOS 9 is very efficient. Apple doesn't need 6 or 8-core processors, so all these points are somewhat unnecessary. That said, this is how they compare.

Apple improved the aluminum design, tossed in a bigger 12 megapixel camera, and made some other changes. Google finally delivered an excellent camera, a big battery, fingerprint tech, and went back to the smaller size that was popular, rather than a hige 6-inch phone like the Nexus 6. Tough choice, we know.
