Nexus 6P Release: 5 Things You Need to Know
Late last month Google announced and released two brand new smartphones. The Nexus 5X, and the bigger more premium Nexus 6P. And while the smaller Nexus 5X is now available to buyers, the Nexus 6P has yet to actually arrive. As a result, below we want to go over five things buyers need to know.
When Google put the Nexus 5X and 6P up for pre-order on the 29th of September they weren’t ready to share a release date, and the company still hasn’t revealed one. That said, there are shipping estimates for all current pre-orders, and we’ll go over that and more below.

As soon as pre-orders went live on September 29th, we quickly learned that most orders had an estimated ship date of leaving the warehouse within 4-5 weeks, which puts the target release date right around the end of October. So far things are still on track, but that isn’t all buyers need to know about the Nexus 6P release.
The smaller Nexus 5X however, which only costs $379, had an estimated ship date of 3-4 weeks. As a result it actually started shipping to those who pre-ordered earlier this week, with some buyers receiving it as early as yesterday. Monday Google confirmed the Nexus 5X shipping had started, and users should be seeing them arrive on doorsteps all week long.
Many who pre-ordered the Nexus 5X on the 29th received it yesterday, October 20th, right on time with Google’s estimated window that it would ship within 3-4 weeks. With that in mind, it’s safe to say the same estimates are accurate for the Nexus 6P, and they’ll start showing up as early as Friday, or early next week.
But since we still don’t have an exact release date from Google themselves, and supply is starting to dwindle on the Google Play Store, buyers are still in the dark. That said, below is a slideshow with five things buyers need to know about the Nexus 6P and its release date.

Checking on the google play store today, 10/21, the Aluminium 32gb, and Frost 128gb are no longer shown as “Out of stock”.

If you go to the Play Store instead of the Google Store, click on the gear and go to My Account, you can see your actual estimated shipping date instead of a range of delivery dates. The Google Store says delivery November 5-9 for me, the Play Store says it’s leaving the warehouse by November 2. They beat their estimates in both places when they shipped my Project Fi SIM, so they should hopefully at least meet them with the phone.
