Clash of Clans Update: What Not to Expect

Published

on

Earlier this month the developers of the hit game Clash of Clans, Supercell, confirmed one of the biggest updates in the history of the game was coming soon. Many expected it to be last week, thanks to a few comments by Supercell staff, but that wasn’t the case. It’s coming soon, but there’s a lot of misinformation floating around. Here we’ll go over what we know, what to expect, and more importantly what not to expect.

Last week Supercell also hosted a huge event called ClashCon, the first gaming event of its kind. It was meant to bring gamers together to enjoy one of the most popular mobile games ever, and the stage in which they announced a few of many updates coming in the very near future. However, only a few details were revealed at ClashCon, but more are coming soon.

Above are a few of the new features coming with the next update, which many are hoping will arrive soon. Supercell confirmed TH11, a new defensive building for protecting bases, a third hero, and even bigger maps. All four of those are major new features, but not what some would consider “game-changing”. Which is one of the terms being thrown around for this next update.

Modifications-in-Clash-of-Clans

The mention of this update coming at ClashCon which we linked to above, was somewhat confusing. In a post teasing Septembers updates a Supercell forum moderator said a huge update would be “announced” at ClashCon, not released. Somewhere along the lines this was confused and many expected it to arrive on October 24th, but it didn’t.

What did happen though, was Supercell set the stage for this next update. Teasing a few impressive new features, showing some off on video, and confirming that this will change the face of Clash of Clans across the board. It’s hard to figure out exactly what that means, because we don’t know what’s actually coming. Personally, TH11, a third hero, bigger maps, and a new defensive unit is pretty game-changing. The bigger map alone tells plenty about this update. It means that Supercell has so much planned for the future, that we’ll need more space for everything to fit inside the map.

So while it hasn’t all been announced yet, it will be revealed soon enough. In fact, four new features have already been confirmed, and that’s just a few of many. Typically SuperCell teases a new feature, building, spell, troop or change once a day on its forums, for 3-4 days and then releases the update. This time though, Supercell will be doing an “extended sneak peek schedule” because there is so much that needs to be announced. Where do I get that information? Here’s the announcement live from ClashCon. Starting at 30:30 in the video. Listen for 30 seconds, and you’ll know what we mean.

The 30 seconds of talking above clears everything up with comments like: “There is going to be changes coming, across the board” and “This is going to be one of the biggest updates we’ve ever done to Clash.” The comment of changes across the board suggests that every troop will get upgraded. This effects everyone, not just TH10 players. Higher troops will be available for lower players, cost less, with shorter upgrade times. This will be huge for everyone that plays the game, even though everything we’ve seen so far is for TH10 or TH11 people that have played for over two years.

Those looking for more information can rewind to about 29 minutes in where we’re told that attackers are going to be given “a new tool at TH11 to help empower, and to protect their armies” but then he stops right there. This is likely the new 3rd hero, which could be some sort of healing wizard that will protect our troops from the new defensive unit that looks like a bald eagle. Who knows at this point.

Above we’ve gone over a few things that we know are coming, how big this update will really be, and what to expect, and now it’s time to talk about what not to expect. Everyone has high expectations, are impatient, and want the update now, but that simply isn’t the case. Supercell has lots of work to do, and below are a few things gamers and fellow Clashers need to know about expectations.

Sneak Peeks

There will be no sneak peeks for the next Clash of Clans update until at least November 2nd, and possibly later. This was confirmed on Monday on the official forums, and is mentioned in the video embedded below. Essentially stating that all the staff was at ClashCon, the developers are still hard at work tweaking things and making changes, not to mention balancing game-play with all the changes, and that no sneak peeks will be revealed this week.

That means that sneak peeks won’t start until Monday, November 2nd, and possible even longer. However, that will be nearly 10 days after ClashCon, and users will grow increasingly more impatient, so maybe expect something on Monday.

Most likely we’ll learn what the mystery 3rd hero above actually looks like, and possibly more, and something will be announced each day for the entire week. Again, that could be Monday, or it could be later in the week, we don’t know. When the sneak peeks do start, it will be more than 3-4, and users can expect more like 5-8 days worth of teasers, if not more.

Clash of Clans Update

The November Clash of Clans update will not arrive this weekend, and it will not be released next week. As we stated above, Supercell offers up teasers and sneak peeks for a few days, then finalizes an update, has a maintenance break, and then pushes out the update to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Teasers haven’t even started yet, and when they do it will be a longer schedule of teasers than usual, which means that even if they do start coming Monday the 2nd, the update won’t arrive for at least another week.

article_post_width_10708620_946238062067184_1682389910493609842_o

That puts the update at Monday November 9th at the earliest, and that’s only if sneak peeks start showing up on the 2nd, which is doubtful. If they start later, the 9th may be too early considering all the sneak peeks they have planned, so a later date is expected. What we’re getting at here, is don’t expect the November Clash of Clans update to arrive for at least another week or more.

And while this isn’t a confirmation, ChiefPat, one of the leading Clash of Clan YouTubers who was at ClashCon released the video below clearing everything up. He goes over what’s new, confirms that tons more is coming that he can’t talk about, and speculates the actual release date. Just like we stated above, he thinks it will be closer to November 16th. Fast forward to 5:30 for the quote about sneak peeks, and talk of the actual update.

Here he doesn’t confirm any actual release date, as he’s not at liberty to say and probably doesn’t honestly know either. However, he does state it will be at least a 10 day wait, if not longer, and makes the strong case for the November Clash of Clans update to arrive on November 16th. This is a Monday, which would give the developers all week to fix any initial problems, bugs, or issues. Rather than release it on the weekend or a Friday, where they’ll be off all weekend and can’t get started on fixes.

We can’t take his word for it, but his information has been relatively on point in the past. Expect the Clash of Clans update to be around midnight on Sunday the 15th, or sometime on Monday. That’s only a guess, and things could change, so stay tuned for more details. It could be earlier. Again, we don’t know.

Heros During War

And last but not least, is the huge rumor that the Barbarian King and Archer Queen (and the new 3rd Hero) will all be available during war after this next update. This was reportedly “confirmed” by a support rep from the in-game chat, but this is likely false.

Heros are a huge part of the game, and are currently the only item that can’t be used while being upgraded during war. This has been a huge complaint for a long, long time, and something that many people want changed. It’s also one of the biggest ways Supercell makes money, as gamers pay for gems to finish upgrades, in order to do Clan Wars with the King and Queen.

We’ve heard a few reports suggesting they’ll be available in war after this update, but that is nothing more than a rumor (and a photoshop job) until it is officially confirmed by the developers themselves.

We think they’ll be available in some form, at the previous level before the update started, possibly without their abilities, which is a win-win for both sides. At the end of the day though, we really don’t know anything until the developers confirm everything, teasers start appearing online, and the update actually arrives.

For now, don’t expect the update for at least another 7-10 days at the earliest, don’t expect heros in war, and don’t expect this to be a small update. This will without a doubt be one of the biggest updates of the year. As a result, it may take longer to arrive than usual. As soon as we have some concrete details we’ll be sure to update and share all the information with excited fans. Stay tuned!

It looks like this update is aimed at killing off the casual and non gemming players. They are going to cash in on a quick buck but then we’ll see clash fizzle off as it becomes less popular. R.I.P. Clash of Clans :(
