Published

on

The next big iPhone 5s iOS 9 update is confirmed. Earlier this week, Apple rolled out the first version of the iPhone 5s iOS 9.2 update and today we want to take a look at a few of the most important things users need to know now that it’s out.

September and October have been busy months for iPhone 5s users. In September, Apple rolled out iOS 9, iOS 9.0.1 and iOS 9.0.2. The updates delivered new features and fixes to the iPhone 5s but they also delivered problems.

Last week, Apple replaced iOS 9.0.2 with an iOS 9.1 update. The iPhone 5s iOS 9.1 update comes with new emojis, enhancements for stock apps and services and bug fixes for lingering iOS 9.1 problems. It’s an important update but its already sharing the spotlight with another upgrade.

Earlier this week, Apple rolled out iOS 9.2 for iPhone 5s. Not the final version of the update but an unfinished version for developers and beta testers. The iPhone 5s iOS 9.2 update, like the iOS 9.1 update, should be a milestone upgrade for Apple’s new operating system.

As we depart from the first iOS 9.2 beta release, we’re starting to learn more about the iOS 9.2 update and its performance. Even though it’s still early, this feedback is important.

Today, we want to take you through the important things to know, right now, about the iPhone 5s iOS 9.2 update.

Remember these details as we push away from this week’s beta release towards a release for iPhone 5s users around the world.

In the days since the iOS 9.2 release, we've been tracking the update's performance. Developers and public beta testers have been providing feedback about the iPhone 5s iOS 9.2 update and so far, reviews are mostly good.

iPhone 5s iOS 9.2 beta testers are saying that the first version of the beta is, for the most part, fast. Some are saying that that there is still Control Center lag, something that's plagued the device since the iOS 9 release in September, but others are saying that it's gone.

While performance appears to be solid in the early stages, there are also some bugs on board the iPhone 5s iOS 9.2 update.

Developers have provided a running list of issues discovered in the iOS 9.2 beta. Some of the problems are minor while others are going to be far more annoying. We should see some of these get fixed in future iOS 9.2 betas, before the public release.

If you're interested in the beta or the public iOS 9.2 release, you'll want to monitor the iPhone 5s iOS 9.2 beta so that you can gauge its performance.

the operational steps to update are almost more annoying than the bugs that are said to be fixed. Really, Apple has been in this business forever and shouldn’t be putting its customers through these kinds of problems on a regular basis.

For the first time I am noticing a little lagginess on my iPhone 5s. Especially with opening the camera. Nothing super slow but my device is showing its age esp with iOS 9.2. However battery life continues to be stellar.
