10 Things to Know About the iPhone 6 iOS 9.1 Update

Published

on

Its been two weeks since Apple released its iPhone 6 iOS 9.1 update, an update that brought new emojis and bug fixes for iOS 9 problems. Now that we’re a couple of weeks removed from the release, we want to take a look at the most important things to know now about the iPhone 6 iOS 9.1 release.

In September, Apple rolled out the iPhone 6 iOS 9 update, an update that brought huge changes to the former flagship. In the weeks since the initial roll out, Apple’s changed the iPhone 6’s version of iOS 9 and the software it’s running now is a little bit different than the software it was running in mid-September.

In late October, Apple finally pushed out the iOS 9.1 update. iOS 9.1 is the first milestone upgrade and it’s much larger than its predecessors, iOS 9.0.1 and iOS 9.0.2.

The iPhone 6 iOS 9.1 update introduces over 150 new emojis to the keyboard, bug fixes for some annoying iOS 9 problems and other enhancements that are aimed at improving the stability of Apple’s brand new mobile OS.

iOS 9.1 is a big update for the iPhone 6 and that’s why we’ve been taking a close look at its performance and some of the finer details.

As we push away from the update’s release date, we want to take a look at some of the most important things to know about the iOS 9.1 update, its problems and its potential successor. Yes, iOS 9.2 is already confirmed.

Keep all of these in mind as we start pushing into November.

iPhone 6 iOS 9.1 Update: Two Weeks Later

I've been using the iPhone 6 iOS 9.1 update for two weeks now and thus far, the update is holding up nicely on Apple's former flagship phone.

I haven't noticed any problems with the phone's battery life. I'm still able to get a full day of use (8AM-8PM) without a charge. That's with a mixture of LTE and Wi-Fi. If you use straight LTE, you'll get less mileage out of it.

I haven't experienced any issues with Wi-Fi, LTE or Bluetooth. All three connections are fast and stable and that was big this weekend when I busted out the Bose SoundLink Mini to help entertain some company at my place.

My apps are stable. Even Chrome, an app that crashed 100+ times in October, has been behaving. It's an early holiday miracle I guess. (Or Google's latest update, and the other updates I've downloaded, have helped to cut down on problems.)

The phone is still extremely fast with iOS 9 on board and I haven't experienced any weird lag or slowdown on the home screen, with Control Center or with Search. Everything has been smooth and fluid and I don't expect that to change.

As of right now, I recommend iOS 9.1. The performance is excellent and the emojis are addicting. It's a high quality update for the iPhone 6. Just make sure you prepare before you install it.

Stop making readers scroll through 10 pages… Not even going to bother reading this until you put it on one page.

Bruce is right. This shit is annoying and not worth scrolling pages for just 2 or 3 sentences.

I installed Silentium adblocker after 3rd page! It’s your fault if adblocker will become so common on mobile devices!

Clickbait. That’s all this website is. Pure click bait with no value to anyone except the advertisers. The content wasn’t even original. It’s all cut and paste from other sources.

If you want to make millions of dollars make an app that black lists websites in your browser. I’d pay $10 for that!

I want a button on the front of my browser, maybe hold down a menu or something, and get the option of “add this site to black list, never see it again!”

When it becomes apparent that the obnoxious add creators aren’t being seen, they will get a clue and change their model. I don’t mind adds, but abhor the “in your face look at me” adds. I too added the add blocker after visiting this site.

One of the draw backs to this is going to be native advertising. The big cable news companies are already doing this. Ever see a story about a fast food chain menu change? WTF?!? How the hell is that news? It’s not, that fast food chain paid to get that story aired. That’s soon to happen on popular legitimate websites too.

Now tell me again, what exactly were the ten things you were telling us about the new upgrade? The important things? I was so busy flipping the pages that I guess I missed your points. Or did you forget to put them in your post? Either way, pretty much a waste of my time… And yours.

This article is pure click bait and keyword stuffing.

Idiotic clickbait. I scrolled 5 pages before giving up.

Tip to others: Don’t bother to read. There is no info, just page after page of one-line nothingness.

Actually, there’s a lot of detail when you click the blue-colored text links on each page. For example, a link on slide 6 opens a very long and detailed “how to fix” list for many common iOS problems. But I agree that speading the high level info out over 10 slides is excessive.

I hate these stupid multiple pages I need to go through and eat time nothing informative is said on the page. What a load of crap and a waist of my time…
