Release Night Black Ops 3 Arrival Confirmed for Some

Some Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 release date buyers can expect their copy of the game to arrive Friday morning at midnight without having to purchase a digital copy of the game or head to a retail store. That’s because the new Amazon Prime Now service is promising release night delivery.

Recently, Amazon announced this week that shoppers in some markets will get their copy of Call of Duty Black Ops 3 on release night earlier. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is this year’s sequel in the long-running first-person shooter franchise. It takes place in a somewhat distant future where biomechanical implants are used in soldiers to give them unparalleled abilities. The game is being developed by Treyarch and published by Activision.

Amazon says that it’ll offer “special delivery windows for Prime members wanting to get Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.” These special delivery windows will mean that Amazon Prime subscribers who live in specific areas get their game at midnight Eastern Standard Time on Friday, November 6th. For comparison, most Amazon Prime orders arrive on doorsteps in two days. Game pre-orders usually arrive on release day, but in the late morning or afternoon. That’s a problem for really dedicated fans that want to play as soon as it’s possible.

To get the release night Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 arrival window users need to download Amazon’s Prime Now app to their iPhone or Android device. Shoppers then need to reserve an arrival window. If the service is available in their area, nothing else needs to happen, Amazon takes care of the rest. An Amazon Prime Now page lets users download the app and check their zip code for availability.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is set to be one of this year’s biggest game releases. In fact, the only real question seems to be how big of a release it’ll be.

Because it’s set in the future, Black Ops 3’s campaign focuses on futuristic weaponry and the challenges of technology becoming too pervasive. In trailers, the greater human populace seems to be growing more worried about biotechnology. When a war breaks out, a team of operatives has to do the best they can to keep a lid on the situation. Players can team up with their friends to go through the game’s entire story. Only buyers of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for Xbox One, PC and PS4 get the game’s campaign because of this co-operative story experience, according to Activision.

Black Ops 3’s multiplayer is notable for other reasons. The multiplayer is populated with different characters with their own unique back story and abilities. Each of these characters can be customized, but have their own unique attributes just for them. The idea is that having persistent characters lets players build an attachment to the multiplayer the way empty shell characters simply can’t. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 players do get to customize their character’s weapons using a new paint shop area. Unfortunately, that too is only for Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PC buyers.

Basic copies of Call of Duty Black Ops 3 cost $59.99 for Xbox One, PC and PS4. Xbox 460 and PS3 versions of the game cost just $49.99. That’s to compensate players for all of its missing features and content compared to current-generation versions of the game. Sony is selling a copy of the game and a custom PS4 bundle for $429.99 at GameStop. This console comes with 1TB of storage instead of just 500GB.
