Spectacular Xbox Black Friday 2015 Deals Teased

Microsoft, makers of the Xbox One entertainment console, isn’t being coy about the amount of money gamers can save if they wait to purchase titles until it’s Black Friday 2015 sale. In fact, the company recently posted a lengthy video about the savings shoppers of its Xbox Store can expect.

Microsoft posted what’s generally called a sizzle reel to its YouTube account earlier this week. Black Friday sales mark the official start of the holiday shopping season. Usually, physical stores and online retailers offer very, very deep discounts on things, hoping to make more money on attachments and accessories to cover the savings they pass on to users. Microsoft’s Xbox Store doesn’t offer any physical goods, instead, it sells downloadable content and video games downloads directly to user’s consoles.

In the Black Friday 2015 trailer we see cut scenes from Gears of War, Batman: Arkham Knight, Forza 6 and more. Text on screen declares that “the wait is over.” The first concrete deal we see mentioned is cheap Xbox Live Gold. Microsoft says that it will sell Xbox Live Gold subscriptions beginning November 20th at just a $1 for its sales event. That’s key because the company will let users with the service take advantage of its Black Friday 2015 deals earlier than those that don’t have it. What’s more, Microsoft will slash its sale prices on games by another to 10% for users with the subscription.

Xbox Live Gold allows users to play games online with other people for $9.99 or $59.99 a year. Besides online multiplayer, Xbox Live Gold unlocks the Xbox Fitness digital training center for users with a Kinect, gives users online storage for their game clips and gets players games for less each week. From time to time Microsoft even unlocks entire games for users. For example, this week NBA 2K16 is free for users to play over the weekend. This isn’t some trial, but the actual digital game download.

Microsoft says that its early Xbox Store Black Friday 2015 sale will start on November 20th and last until November 23rd. The cheap Xbox Live membership deal will last until November 30th. Games included in the sale will have discounts starting at 40% and going up to 60%. The company hasn’t yet provided a detailed list of titles that players can expect to save on. Presumably, we can expect to see deep discounts on the games that Microsoft publishers for the Xbox One itself. In years past there have been deep discounts on games made by third-party developers too.

All told, this $1 deal for Black Friday 2015 is probably the best deal in gaming we’ll see in gaming this holiday season. Both the Xbox One and PS4 requires that users pay for access to multiplayer gaming. Microsoft also charged for access to multiplayer on the Xbox 360. The company seems to be trying to get users hooked this holiday season. Xbox One consoles start at just $349.99 now, with used consoles selling for as little as $299 at GameStop. Some retailers are planning to sell the Xbox One and PS4 for as little as $299.99 in their Black Friday sales. The discount is instant in most places, like Amazon for example.

Microsoft said earlier this year that it would no longer treat consoles sales as the primary metric for Xbox’s success. Instead, it’s focusing on the number of paid subscribers it has for Xbox Live. That makes sense, Xbox Live provides a continuous stream of benefits for games and a constant stream of revenue for the company. More people buying games during Black Friday 2015 sales means more people purchasing an Xbox Live subscription and keeping it for months and years to come.
