Groove Music Deal Perfect for Windows 10 Updaters

Microsoft, makers of Xbox Live, OneDrive and Office 365, has a deal running on another of its services. What’s more that deal is perfect for anyone taking advantage of the company’s free Windows 10 Update on old or newer machines alike.

The Microsoft Store revealed a new huge deal on its Groove Music service late last night. The online store and retail chain is in day eleven of its 12 Days of Deals sale. Savings available during the promotion are available for a single day before disappearing. Groove Music is the subscription service that officially replaced Xbox Music with the launch of Windows 10 over the summer. What Groove Music offers is very similar to that of Apple Music and Spotify: unlimited music streaming. The service costs $9.99 a month or $99 a year.

microsoft store holiday 2015 deals

With this Holiday 2015 deal, a year of Groove Music still costs $99, but Microsoft is giving shoppers a promotional gift card to its Windows Store valued at $50. The Windows Store sells albums, songs, television shows and movies. The Windows Store offers up games and apps for Windows notebooks, desktops and tablets too. To be clear, the Windows Store isn’t to be confused with the Microsoft Store itself, which offers up physical goods, like notebooks, desktops and tablets. This $50 promotional code doesn’t work on those items or in physical Microsoft Stores.

Besides the required Microsoft Account, there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of restrictions on this Holiday 2015 deal. Microsoft sends the code for a year of Groove Music Pass to users instantly after they’ve made their purchase. The company also sends along that promotion code. Users then have to redeem that code inside the Windows Store like they would any prepaid code. Microsoft says that buyers have to redeem their promotional code by January 31st. The code’s value has to be redeemed entirely within 90 days, according to the details area on the deal website.

No it’s not a direct discount on the service itself, but this Holiday 2015 Groove Music deal is perfect for users who might have already planned to subscribe to the service for a full year or already had plans to purchase something within the Windows Store. Groove Music is the most featured packed on Windows 10 notebooks, desktops and 2-in-1s, but has apps on other platforms.

There’s a web app that pulls user’s music collection from Microsoft’s OneDrive storage service. There’s another an iPhone app that allows users to create, stream and store their favorite playlists too. Groove Music for iPhone and Android both require a Groove Music subscription. Microsoft doesn’t offer any free music streaming, but does offer a free trial. There are also Xbox One and Xbox 360 Groove Music apps that require a subscription.

The 12 Days of Deals at the Microsoft Store will conclude with a $200 discount on the Asus Transformer Book Flip. That machine normally costs $599, but beginning at midnight Pacific Standard Time it’ll fall to just $399. The Microsoft Store offers free shipping and free returns on all items it sells.

Theoretically, the deals shouldn’t stop there. Microsoft’s Xbox team are already revealed a Countdown to 2016 sale in a recent post at Xbox Wire. The sale will offer deep discounts on 200 different games and content add-ons across the Xbox Store. These deals start on December 22nd and run until December 7th. Expect big sales on this year’s most-popular digital games. Through the holiday season, every Xbox One console is discounted by $50, bringing the cost of an entry-level Xbox One to $299 and an Elite Xbox One Console down to $449. It doesn’t seem as if Microsoft will offer any big discounts on Xbox Live Gold, the service that users need to play Xbox online with their friends.
