The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid deliver new innovations to the minivan segment that offer a new set of connected, safety and convenience features.

Buying a minivan is one of those life choices that many consumers come to after the second child enters the picture, which still ultimately drives the utility behind many of the features, but Chrysler is doing all it can to make the minivan a choice, not a compromise.

On stage at the North American International Auto Show, Chrysler announced the Chrysler Pacific Hybrid and Pacific on a new platform that delivers technology for driver convenience and to cut down on road noise using smart tech.

The new Pacifica Hybrid is the first electrified minivan, and it is capable of 30 miles of zero emission range, allowing users to drive around town without worrying about using any gas. Opting for a Pacifica Hybrid does remove the ability to use Stow & Go seating.

The 2017 Pacifica uses multiple layers of materials to cut down on the road noise and Active Noise Cancellation is standard across the new Pacifica lineup to deliver a better riding experience.

Technology and connectivity play a central role in the 2017 Pacifica with a new Uconnect Theater entertainment system that includes a 7-inch driver information display and a 8.4-inch touchscreen.  Users also get the Uconnect Access feature that includes a WiFi Hotspot option.

With Uconnect Theater your passengers can watch movies, play games that are built-in to the system and stream content through two 10-inch HD displays.

Parents can use KeySense programmable key fobs to put limits on speed, radio volume and disabling some features when the front seatbelts aren’t buckled.

There is a standard six speaker system, but users can upgrade to a 13-speaker Alpine system or a 20-speaker Harman Kardon system. Users can open the doors with a kick under the sliding door area and on the lift gate.

If you need to clean up the minivan before hauling friends around, you can use the Stow ‘n Vac to clean up the mess.

The inside of the new Pacifica is large enough carry eight passengers, or with the seats stowed, fit a 8 x 4 foot sheet of plywood.

Safety and technology in the new Pacifica includes Surround View camera to view the car’s position from a bird’s-eye view. Additional features include;

  • ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, which uses ultrasonic sensors to guide the driver into parking spaces
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Hold, which maintains the distance between the vehicle and the one in front of it, and can bring the vehicle to a controlled stop under certain circumstances
  • Forward Collision Warning-Plus deploys the brakes to alert the driver if an impact appears imminent, and assists with driver response
  • LaneSense Lane Departure Warning-Plus leverages electronic power steering (EPS) by delivering a torque input to alert and assist the driver with corrective action

The Chrysler Pacific price is to be determined and the vehicle will appear in showrooms in Spring 2016. The 2017 Pacifica Hybrid will arrive in the second half of 2016.
