11 Things to Know About the iPhone 6 iOS 9.2 Update

Published

on

The iOS 9.2 update brings new features, enhancements, bug fixes, security patches, and its own set of problems to the former flagship. Today, we want to walk you through the most important things iPhone 6 users need to know about the iOS 9.2 update including details about its successors.

In October, Apple rolled out an iOS 9.2 update to testers. The company pushed out its iOS 9.2 beta a week after it rolled out iOS 9.1 to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Like the company’s iOS 9.1 update, iOS 9.2 beta arrived with some big changes.

In December, Apple pulled the iPhone 6 iOS 9.2 update out of beta and released it to users around the world. If you’re in possession of an iPhone 6, you can download and install iOS 9.2 via iTunes or through Settings right now.

The iOS 9.2 update is a little different than the iOS 9.2 beta that rolled out back in October. Apple fine tuned the final version of the update and it comes with a long list of bug fixes for iOS 9 problems, a number of patches for potential exploits, enhancements for apps and services, and some new features. It’s an important update and one that should be on your radar.

This roundup is going to walk you through the most important things to know about the iPhone 6 iOS 9.2 update. It includes tips to help you avoid iOS 9.2 problems, our iPhone 6 iOS 9.2 review and some details about the iPhone 6 iOS 9.2.1 update and the iPhone 6 iOS 9.3 update.

iPhone 6 iOS 9.2 Update Review

We've been using the iPhone 6 iOS 9.2 update on several iPhone 6 variants for two weeks now and the update continues to perform at a high level.

We've most of December with the iPhone 6s iOS 9.2 update and we haven't run into any problems with battery life. The company's flagship from 2014 is still holding a solid charge when in use and when it's in standby mode. We've been able to get about 7-8 hours of use out of it when using a mixture of Wi-Fi and LTE. That's standard for us.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LTE speeds are still fast and reliable. App performance post-iOS 9.2 release has been top notch. Even problem apps like Twitter, Facebook and Chrome have been behaving on the iPhone 6.

And for those curious about UI speed, the phone is still extremely fast with iOS 9.2 on board. We haven't noticed any weird lag or stuttering when pulling up Control Center, opening up folders, or using the iOS 9 keyboard.

From where we're standing, the iOS 9.2 appears to be an excellent update and one worthy of your attention if you're on iOS 9 or iOS 8. iOS 8 users will want to be a little more careful because there's no going back once you get iOS 9 on board your phone.

Since installing 9.2 on my iPhone 6 it is causing the mail to keep defaulting to the home screen or not even opening up. Tried resetting phone but still same problems.

I just clicked through 10 pages of sophomoric writing simply to gain the most common piece of advice: back up your phone before proceeding. Thanks for wasting my time and cramming that advertising down my throat.

Seems like the safest route is to wait for the bugs in the bug fixer to be fixed.

Battery life has gone down since the upgrade. I sure hope there’s a fix soon. In the past I could make it all day without charging. Now I have to charge mid day!

Problems I’ve had since I’ve updated my phone…:I can’t read my mail, I get kicked off half my apps and my battery’s life is being drained like nothing else.
Also please give me a way to delete the apps you put on my phone that I don’t use. It’s wasting my space and I have only so much to begin with.

I updated to 9.2 & lost all my sound. Keeps saying headphones. When I tried to watch a video or turn up sounds. I found the AirPlay. I changed it garage & it still has no sound. I have been through all my setting & can’t find anywhere to turn it off or get my sound back.

since updating to 9.2 my ‘slide to unlock’ screen doesn’t work, I have to wait for it to go off or press the on/ off button at the top of the phone but then it works on the second time. Issue is I can not answer any phone calls as it wont slide across while locked.

Are you still facing this issue? I was facing the same issue with iOS 9.1 on my iPhone 5s. I thought upgrading to iOS 9.2 would fix it, but no luck. I’am unable to pick any calls.

I’m having the same issue and it’s driving me crazy! I’ve replaced the phone twice now and I’ve restored several times. It’s an intermittent problem, but super annoying! I have an iPhone 6 plus.

Since doing the 9.2, my mail app keeps defaulting back to the home screen. Also my storage says it is full and I went in this morning and deleted 10+ videos and several photos and some apps but the storage available did not change from 0. So frustrating.

I updated the OS on Monday. Wednesday my iPhone 4s announced “Welcome to Your New iPhone” and required a new set up to resume operation. In the process all messages and photos on the phone were lost as were contacts saved on the iPhone but not entered into MS Outlook. Coincidence, I think not.

Since updating my iPad is virtually useless. I cannot get my mail up. It tells me to reset the password yet when I do it keeps coming up with ‘Email mismatch’ Facebook keeps crashing out. Can’t update my apps, and can’t locate any of my files on ‘Pages’ and ”Keynote’. Also everything slow. How can I resolve this? Shall I go to the Apple shop or phone Apple?

After update, all sound for calendar alerts and text messages was gone. Both were set to crickets. Fortunately all other sounds were available so I just changed the setting. Disappearing calendar events. I set an event. Needed to edit the title. Edited title event appeared momentarily, blinked and reappeared as original. Had to edit 3 times before it stayed. Happened with many events. Last week it would not accept my password.

Was given an iPhone as a gift from a relative who wanted facetime with me. Not a good reason. After taking about 6 weeks to finally get used to its idiot strangeness, I still can’t get rid of, get this, over 13,000 emails, like every email I have ever gotten while using gmail. Mostly junk. I don’t have time to manually delete all these emails, and I suspect it’s the reason Verizon is charging for high usage. Is this an iPhone or Verizon problem? Online on my desktop these do not show up at all when using gmail. Anyone else have this problem

My son, (windows geek) has come to help me with “separation” after 23 yrs & the update made my IPhone 6+ USELESS!!! PRAISE THE LORD he knows enough about computers to”work around” the problem bc, everytime I had to “input my unlock” it used ALL BUT THE# I would touch! Finally he was able to download by phone (apps & all) to my windows computer they ITunes & after 4-5 attempts, has 9.2 restoreD!! Thankful for such a help at such a bad time of my life!!! BUT, phone keeps attempting to update & DID to9.2.1 on its own!!! That will be the LAST STRAW FOR ME!!! The top portion of the screen begins to Flickr badly right b4 it acts up!!! Come on Apple!!! I got a free Slate from Sprint that I may have to go to!! Only going from my Droid to IPhone, I can’t remember HOW to use windows!! Talk about technologically challenged!!!!! At my age, this crap is supposed to simplify not complicate life!!!!

9.2.1 and maybe MS Outlook Calendar have an issue. When I move or otherwise change calendar entries on my i6 they often disappear on the phone. They remain on PC.
