Expect New Star Wars Battlefront Problems

Everytime we see a brand new update or patch for a device or a game, it adds new problems to the mix. For Star Wars Battlefront, this happened after the December 16th patch for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

EA and DICE fixed a number of glaring issues with the game but the update also added a number of other problems. We expect the same from the next update.

It'll fix some bugs but our guess is that it will have some unintentional side effects that frustrate owners. So, it would be wise to get familiar with EA's Technical Forums so that you can report bugs and find feedback after the update arrives.

The rotation button also worked on my version 8 software. Thanks for the suggestion!

You stretched this out way too far. I mean seriously 5 of the 7 changes could have fallen under the same category of “Software Enhancements”

None of the Star Wars Battlefront games had a proper single player campaign. This is nothing new. They all threw together a little something for single player. This new battlefront has done the same. The game is all about multiplayer. We knew this going in. They didn’t hide this fact.
    The great:
    – Graphics are incredible
    – movement/controls feel fantastic and tight
    – sounds are amazing (that grenade that sounds like bobba fett’s bomb in episode II)
    – dogfighting is easy and fun
    – splitscreen local co-op (not online multiplayer though)
Bottom line: The game engine is fantastic and ready for action.

    The bad:
    – There is no lan option! For PC this is a big deal, but it would be nice to have the option for Xbox as well.
    – Small number of maps
    – Small number of characters
    – No Clone Wars or prequel maps/characters
    – no splitscreen online multiplayer
    – Build up characters online means unfair advantage (better guns, armor, etc) for those who have played longer
    – Maps are too small for this powerful engine
    – No space dog fighting
    – no bots (computer controlled) in online multiplayer (this really relates to no lan ability)
    – I remember early on, they said you would be able to fight on the ground, hop in a vehicle, then fly into space and continue the battle, all on the same map…they didn’t come close to delivering on that.
    – computer controlled characters in brief single player mode are very dull and one dimensional (nowhere near AI for marines in half-life)
Bottom line: The game feels like it was not finished and pushed out for Christmas

Conclusion: The good news is, the game engine is fantastic. It runs great, looks great and feels great. More maps and characters can always be added. The fact that they are planning on releasing 4 DLCs is proof of this. The fact that they are making you buy them is lame considering the game comes with such a small number of maps and characters. As much as the prequel movies are not good for watching, they have the best battles and vehicles and hopefully they will add these giant maps with clone troopers and those awesome vehicles. This will definitely give the game more depth and scale. Also, we need more giant maps. Spread the two sides out. Its ok to have to hop in a vehicle and ride for a little bit. Or walk for a little bit. Or hop in a transport vehicle to get to the action. Give us more giant maps spread out where we don’t have to shoot every second of gameplay. I think once they add more maps representing all the star wars movies and characters, add in the huge maps, some giant space dogfighting, this game will become the greatest battlefront game in the series and perhaps one of the greatest star wars games of all time.
Get rid of the unfair advantages for the online play. Someone who get the game on black friday shouldn’t have access to better, more powerful guns than a new kid who plays on Christmas. Its unfair and less fun. Give everyone access to everything. You wanna spice things up, throw in computer controlled elements (characters, creatures, vehicles) every now and then, in online multiplayer, that attack both sides. Let us setup auto turrets that we can upgrade.
Can great AI exist in a game? Yes. The marines in the game, Half-life featured the greatest AI (artificial intelligence) of any game, even to this day. And that game came out in 1998! Almost two decades ago!
