Fallout 4 Patch 1.3: 5 Reasons We’re Excited

Published

on

Fallout 4 patch 1.3 is in beta ahead of a public release and today we want to highlight five things that have us excited about its eventual arrival for PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Last year, Bethesda announced that it would be rolling out regular, and free, Fallout 4 updates. These updates will focus on squashing many of the Fallout 4 problems that exist on Xbox One, PS4 and PC but some (or all, we’re not sure) will bring new features to the table.

Bethesda’s first big Fallout 4 update arrived in December, just weeks after the game’s release date. As promised, the 1.2 patch came with more than just a collection of bug fixes. It also brought some new features to PC users.

The update was a solid start but it left many Fallout 4 gamers wanting more. More features and more bug fixes for Fallout 4 problems.

Update: The Fallout 4 Patch 1.3 was released for the PC, Xbox One and PS4. Here are our impressions of the update.

Fallout-4-3

Earlier this year, the developer confirmed a brand new Fallout 4 patch for PC. Fallout 4’s 1.3 update is currently in beta for PC users and anyone with a Steam account can download and install the early version right now.

The Fallout 4 patch 1.3 is much larger than the update that came before it and it’s one that I’ve been looking forward to since its release into beta earlier this month.

While we wait for the Fallout 4 patch to arrive for everyone, I want to highlight a few of the components I’m most excited about. There’s a lot to like about the 1.3 patch but there are a few things that stand out to me.

Here’s what I’m most excited about.

Status Menu for Settlers

Status Menu for Settlers

The Fallout 4 1.3 patch is bringing some new features to gamers including new icons for settlers that inhabit your settlements.

If you have large settlements or sometimes have problems tracking down who is doing what, the new menu will help. You can get a feel for the icons and the menu in the screenshot here and in the screenshots located right here

It's going to help with organization, particularly in your biggest settlements where it can be difficult to determine who is doing what.

It's a small addition but it's an exciting one for those of us that are heavily invested in not only creating settlements but properly managing them as well.

I'm hoping this one makes it from the beta to the public release.

The only comment is a bot… hey I am and have always been a Bethesda Fangirl but for god’s sake, does a developer fixing a BROKEN game need to be a tiny sigh of relief? A sigh that will continue release by release until people move on to the next game, possibly for years… Bethesda, please do not release a broken Elder Scrolls game… I beg of you, don’t taint the one beautiful thing you have created… so sad, complete waste of a team with such talent.

The game itself is fairly superficial, with nothing like the number of quest’s as skyrim. Its a shooter, a thinking mans cod. I resent the notion it is a true rpg because the story is set from the start and the narrow edged scripting completely negates thought during conversation’s. And the crashes! Literally amateur really. I mourn fallout as a concept and pray TES 6 will be an actual RPG.

I’m getting tired of waiting on fixes for the console version…. it seems they are too busy sucking pc’s dick to work on the game for anyone besides a pc user. They are forgetting where most of their clients are playing from and “taking the easy way out”. Where are the mods for the console you promised us?? If ur only gonna focus on the pc version solely why even make a broken game for the console? You are killing my will to live in any of your virtual worlds bethesda…

Did it occur to any of you console types that maybe, just maybe, Bethesda has to jump through a bunch more hoops getting the patches for XBox and PS authorized by their respective organizations? That maybe it’s this authorization process which delays the patches for consoles?

What about settlers and pack brahmin getting stuck on the roof in Sanctuary, NPC’s not being able to find the freaking door on custom-built houses, the infamous shadows in the Corvega factory, the ridiculously long autosaving after exiting the pip-boy on Xbox One (idk if it’s for other platforms), the enemies that spawn as dead bodies, the broken ragdolls (I have a capture of dead Synths freaking out after I killed them)? Is there even a hint that the weapon debris effects are coming to console? Cuz based on the other games that are available on Xbox One and PS4, they can more than handle the extra graphics requirements (frick, most games on next-gen consoles look damn near true-to-life!).

I’m getting tired of Bethesda babying PC gamers and giving them priority over console gamers. I never thought I’d say this but if they don’t start equalizing their content for all of us then this may very well be the last Bethesda product I get.

I’m a PC gamer and I have every single one of the problems you mentioned, so I don’t think it’s a matter of prioritizing PC over console gamers.

I didn’t say that PC gamers weren’t experiencing the same bugs. I was criticizing the fact that these are day-one issues that they have yet to even pretend to deal with since they’re too busy giving PC gamers better graphics.

I agree, way too much attention is given to the PC platform. They need to focus on console game fixes as well. PC games should not take priority over console games. Fallout 4 is a great game and they need to help improve the game play to help the console gamers.

Had an issue with no idea how to resolve. I killed courser in hunted/hunter. Killed him at the top of CIT building. When I killed him his body disappeared? Now there is no way to get chip for quest? Any ideas

Ever since I downloaded the Fallout 4 update 1.3 (PS4), the game is nearly unplayable. Autosaves, fast travel, sleeping, and anytime I have to access the main menu (manual save, quit etc) takes an unbearably long time. I can’t play two minutes without a 60 second frozen screen. It’s so unacceptable, I stopped playing it. I don’t know if it only happened to me (maybe corrupt update file?). Is there a way to rollback the update for PS4? The glitches and bugs I had before the update were far more tolerable than the so-called “fix”.

Shit I thought I was the only one. That is EXACTLY what happened to me after I updated to 1.3 on xbone.

I can’t get the side quest from Cait after the dialog. This is frustrating -_-

Can’t get Moe to take his damned signed baseball and card. As soon as I say, yeah, I have the goods, he says something and I’m frozen in place (On PC). I’ve tried getting it to complete multiple times over the course of the game. I did somehow manage to get him to take the bat, but it was when I was near the exit of Diamond City. The money just popped up in the corner of the screen. No idea how it happened. Not a huge deal, since it’s just a side quest, but a little annoying, nonetheless.
