Star Wars Battlefront: 5 Things to Expect in 2016

Published

on

We’re ringing in the new year with a look at a few things Star Wars Battlefront players and buyers should expect from EA, DICE and the game in 2016.

In November, shortly before the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, EA and DICE released the latest installment in the Star Wars series of video games.

Star Wars Battlefront for Xbox One, PS4 and PC puts gamers into massive battles on famous planets like Hoth and Endor. It also puts them into the shoes of famous heroes like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Boba Fett.

The game has received mixed reviews but that hasn’t stopped it from flying off shelves. November and December were busy months for Battlefront and you can expect the month of February to be busy as well.

EA and DICE have made some promises to gamers and prospective buyers and we expect to hear more about those in the weeks ahead.

Today, we want to outline those promises and also address some things prospective Star Wars Battlefront buyers should keep an eye on as we move deeper into 2016. This is what to expect from Star Wars Battlefront for Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2016.

You’ll want to stay on top of these key Battlefront details as we push our way into January towards the first major Star Wars Battlefront DLC release date in March.

The first thing to expect are three Star Wars Battlefront DLC release dates in 2016 and one Battlefront expansion pack release in 2017.

Last year, EA and DICE confirmed plans to release four paid expansion packs for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The companies have now detailed three of the four DLC expansions and the first will be arriving in a few short weeks.

You can expect Battlefront's Outer Rim expansion pack to arrive sometime in March. We'd expect a specific date to emerge closer to the release date.

EA and DICE will then release the Bespin DLC in the summer followed by a Death Star DLC release in the fall ahead of the Rogue One movie and the holidays. A fourth expansion pack won't arrive until early 2017. Expect it to touch down between January and March.

EA and DICE haven't outlined specifics but we do know that the expansion packs will be focused on adding new maps, new map types, new heroes and villains, new Star Cards, and more. The first DLC pack should give us some idea about what to expect from the other three.

Rumors have started flying around thanks to a Chewbacca sighting in the game but nothing is confirmed. With EA and DICE focused on the original trilogy, we'd be shocked if Chewy, Yoda and other popular characters were absent from the upcoming DLC.

You can also expect EA and DICE to release these DLC expansions by themselves. EA confirmed as much this month.

So if you don't want to buy the Season Pass and all of the Star Wars Battlefront DLC, you can expect to be able to pick and choose what you want.

It's not clear how much each will cost individually though we'd expect the Season Pass to grant you a deal on the four. The Season Pass is $50.

Who is the editor here? This article is a waste of time. Bunch of old news (and non-news) in a list format that requires 5 page views. Horseshit.

What to Expect – number 2 starts “Do not expect” – so you’re just saying that we should expect to not expect something? That’s just plain bad article writing dude.
