Star Wars Battlefront DLC: 5 Reasons to Get Excited

Free Updates With Additional Content

Later on this month, EA and DICE are going to roll out a free Star Wars DLC update that delivers more than just bug fixes for Battlefront problems.

The February Battlefront update has a few different components. It's going to come with a brand new Survival mission on Hoth. It's also going to come with a brand-new Hoth multiplayer map that will support Walker Assault, Supremacy, Fighter Squadron and Turning Point. Those are the four map types I play the most.

The February update is also going to bring the Turning Point game mode to all maps that support Supremacy and Walker Assault. That alone is reason to get excited about next month's release.

There's also a chance it will bring a new content for Princess Leia. EA and DICE plan to kick off a challenge on February 16th and there's a chance its reward could tie-in with the February update.

This is all free and it will make Turning Point, and the game, a little deeper. And that's something Battlefront desperately needs.

I'm also excited because EA and DICE have committed to a steady stream of free updates that go beyond the big February update for PC, Xbox One and PS4.

In addition to this February update, EA and DICE have confirmed a free update for March. Like the February update, it will be more than just a bug fixer.

You won't have to pay a dime for "another exciting new multiplayer map on Endor that will support Walker Assault, Supremacy, and Turning Point, and an additional Tatooine Survival map." Those are the current contents of the March update.

EA says that "in addition to the free content we will be delivering through March, we will continue to listen to our community throughout the year and provide updates designed to make Star Wars Battlefront even more fun for everyone."

In other words, expect more free content and expect EA and DICE to listen to their fans. That's a pretty exciting proposition for a game that's been on sale for $40 (through various retailers) and will probably get cheaper as the year goes on.
