Don't set out into the wasteland with a full inventory. And traveling back and forth to alleviate this takes up precious time. Get in the habit of unloading your inventory before you go out exploring or questing. Sell your stuff or pick a easy-to-remember workbench to store your items. That way, you'll have a harder time reaching your threshold.
