We don’t normally see Spotify down for a long time for all users, but it is fairly common to hear complaints from small groups of users each day. Some Spotify problems and errors will leave you unable to stream music even when other apps and programs can connect to the Internet just fine.

We’ll walk through a collection of Spotify problems and fixes for those issues that you need to try to get back to your music.

Missing Spotify Daily Mixes

The Daily Mixes in Spotify are missing in October 2019. This is a widespread issue that is on the second day. There is a thread on the Spotify Community Forums about the issue.

Spotify Cares suggests re-installing the app. In another Tweet the support team suggests logging out, restarting and logging back in. Users don’t report success and Spotify Cares asks for a DM.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Spotify says that developers are looking into it.

Is Spotify down?

We regularly see people asking if Spotify is down because the service will not stream music or they see the “You’re Offline” error. Common problems that prompt users to ask if Spotify is down include;

  • Streaming problems
  • Log-in problems
  • Website issues

The best place to go to see if Spotify is down is DownDetector. This service tracks user reported Spotify issues and will help you know if the service is down or if it is just you.

Another place to check is the official SpotifyStatus Twitter account. This account will tweet when there are issues and problems with the service.

System wide issues are fairly rare, so it is more likely that you have a Spotify problem with your account, your device or something going wrong specific to your experience than it is that Spotify is completely down.

How to Fix Spotify Streaming Problems

If Spotify streaming problems stop you from enjoying your music you can take some steps on your own to fix the issues.

In many cases these Spotify streaming errors come form an issue with your home network or with your device. Sometimes you will see the Spotify error “Can’t play the current track” and other times you are stuck in “You’re offline” when you are clearly connected to the Internet.

  1. Turn on Airplane mode on your device and wait 30 seconds and then turn it off.
  2. Restart your iPhone, Android, Smart TV, Game Console or whatever device you are using to stream Spotify.
  3. Restart your Router. Unplug your wireless router from power for 60 seconds then plug it back in.
  4. Restart Your Modem. Unplug the modem from your Internet company for 30 to 60 seconds.
  5. Check the WiFi Router Location. If your router is hidden behind something, move it to a higher place and out from behind items.

If none of these fix your problem, you should make sure that you can use other web services on that device. You may need to try connecting an Ethernet cable from your modem to a computer to see if that works. You can also contact your local cable company for support.

You can use this guide to configure your router for Spotify. We don’t often find a need for this at home, but if you are at work you may need to ask your IT department to change some settings to let you stream Spotify.

How to Fix Spotify Connection Problems

If you cannot connect to Spotify at all you can use these tricks to get back online and streaming. These work best if you are still able to use other apps and visit websites.

How to Fix Spotify No Sound Problems

Sometimes you will open the app and start playing music, but there is no sound coming from the Spotify app. If this happens you should check the volume in Spotify on Mac or Windows and then click on the speaker in Windows and then on Mixer to make sure Spotify is not muted there either.

Nothing is a Spotify problem. I like Spotify but the stuttering is awful, and it’s on all of our phones. We have Apple Music and we don’t have that issue. Long time user is Spotify but I’m super aggravated with your product, and it’s not my phone or my router or my network ….it’s spotty

I have an ongoing problem with downloaded tracks being “un-downloaded” and requiring good internet to restore. It has been going on for about two years, ever since I started my subscription account. I suspect it is a common problem that goes un-noticed by most users because they almost always have access to fast internet. We travel a lot and often have slow or nil internet. Spotify have been responsive to my complaint, but failed to solve it. I only have Spotify on my iPad. The same problem has happened on my first and then my replacement iPad. I think it is their system. I doubt they will resolve it.

Hi, Anthony. I recently downloaded the Spotify app because of its offline capability, but only a few of the songs in the playlist are available in offline mode. This is very frustrating because the point of choosing Spotify was to have access to music offline without needing WiFi and without using a lot of data. Have you figured out a solution yet?

      Thanks,
      Beth

Hi, so on my Spotify, I’ll click shuffle play on my playlist. Then it plays one song on the playlist then changes to a random rap song every time I change the song. I’ve already turned off the auto play (the one that gives you recommendations) and it still plays random songs after the song I want is played. What do I do?
