3 Reasons Not to Buy Star Wars Battlefront & 4 Reasons To

Published

on

Star Wars Battlefront for PS4, Xbox One and PC is a pretty tempting game for various reasons. But is it worth buying right now? After playing the game for more than a month, we take a look at some reasons why you might want to buy Star Wars Battlefront and some reasons to skip it, at least for right now.

The latest installment in the Star Wars Battlefront series comes from EA and DICE. DICE is the developer behind the popular Battlefield series. Battlefield, like Battlefront, puts gamers into massive online battles with tons and tons of action.

Battlefront is one of the 2015’s best-selling games and it’s not hard to figure out why. It’s Star Wars, it puts gamers into the shoes of famous characters in famous locations and it’s Star Wars.

I’ve already invested a ton of time into the game and my character and today I want to share some update thoughts with those of you who are on the fence about buying it for yourself or a loved one this year.

Star Wars Battlefront reviews have been all over the place. Some people love, others hate it. After spending nearly four months with the game, I still fall somewhere in between and I’ll tell you why here. jakku2

Use these reasons to help yourself get over to one side of the fence or the other. There are plenty of reasons to shell out cash right now but there are also some reasons to wait on a purchase.

Before you go nuts, note that I’m not saying “don’t buy Star Wars Battlefront.” What I am saying is that some of you might be better off waiting a few days, weeks or even a few months before picking up the game.

Let’s take a look.

It's Star Wars

It's Star Wars

If you're looking to get your Star Wars video game fix (or looking to supply others), this is going to do the trick.

One thing that I should make clear. This is not a movie-tie in. DICE's first Battlefront DLC, Battle of Jakku, is a planet that's featured in the The Force Awakens but the events in the movie take place after the events in the game.

And while there is speculation that the fourth and final expansion could have something to do with Rogue One, that's not confirmed.

The game and its upcoming DLC (Downloadable Content) is based on the original trilogy and it features classic characters, well-known locations, and the sounds you'd expect from a Star Wars game. Yes, John Williams' music is in the game and its incredible.

It's not a perfect game but it's been thrilling to step into the shoes of a Stormtrooper on Hoth with blaster pistol lasers whizzing above my head. That's just one highlight.

Playing as Luke Skywalker and meeting Darth Vader in the middle of a chaotic battle is another. Or how about the time I blasted Rebel scum to pieces with an AT-AT? Or the other time I zapped my two brothers to death with Emperor Palpatine in a Heroes vs. Villians match? Or that time I mowed down foe after foe with Boba Fett? You get it.

If you love Star Wars, classic Star Wars, this is a game that you absolutely must consider. I've had so many incredible memories come back to me and this game has helped make more that will probably last you, or someone else, a lifetime.

Star Wars Battlefront is terrible. The last Star Wars game was 100 times better. I played the 10 hour free trial and after 3 hours I erases it.

No, that’s what happens with sucky games. Stop being a salty star wars fanboy plz. The only factor the game excels at is graphics…AND THATS IT. It’s repetitive, lacks progression, and lacks enough depth to keep your attention anymore than most PS4 games. It wasn’t worth $60 at all, and I still don’t even think it’s worth $40…

      • Bf3 sucks get refund

Can confirm it sucks. Once the other team gets full air it’s over its basically cheating as there is no counter to it

Game is lame. Like all shooters. There is no depth to any of it. Just a bunch of people running in different directions, chaos always. No method. Looks cool. Plays dumb.

The point of FPS is competitively get better than everyone else, but that’s impossible so that’s why everyone is drawn to keep playing it.

Cry babies. Sometimes these games are good for people that don’t have the time to play in depth games like fallout. Granted I own and love fallout, this game is fairly good as well. Considering it is a repetitive game, it is one of the better ones. I played 3 hours of black ops and put it down. I’m hit or miss with these games, but I really do like the air battles in battle front

If you are a fast paced gamer, (BO3), this isn’t the game for you. You can’t even slide. The specials are confusing. There is no storyline AT ALL. The best part about it is the vehicles ( if you don’t die trying to get to one first ), and the graphics. No background loading image either, just a white screen with R2-D2. The only thing good about multiplayer is the terrain.

I’d rather have no storyline than a storyline that has no connection to the rest of the series(BO3)

I bought it and I returned it. Graphics are awesome but it keeps repeat and repeat… SW Battlefront 2 is still the best.

I have a feeling you people to complain about it. Stop comparing it to the other Battlefront games, because it isn’t part of that series and should not be treated as such. Also, stop comparing it to other shooters, as it is a different type of shooter game. The game is repetitive, but it helps develop the strategy for that gamemode. Star Wars Battlefront is a game in a league of it’s own. No game offers what Battlefront does.

For a repetitive game it is very good, game plays good, graphics, and you can be in a kind of competitive league aswell… If you or one of someone you know can hook it up

This game is a lot of fun. Already invested 188 hours into it. There are a ton of power struggles in modes like Supremacy. Not sure what the jaded gamer above was talking about lol.

I just got this game and I am worried I wasted my money based on what people are saying. I have not opened it yet and plan to do so soon I just would like to know is it worth 60$ ?

      01/09/2016 at 7:12 am

I haven’t got this game yet, but I really want to. What people say is purely their own opinions. Personally, I don’t really care if they say that it is bad. I want it. And if you don’t like it, and you bought it through Origin, after 24 hours of opening it, you can get a refund. So you can’t really lose if you don’t like it.

Don’t buy the DLC! It’ll only support their bad game design and give them no incentive to fix the actual game. Only thing it’ll do is fracture the player base more as they run off with your money

I think before paid dlc they should fix the servers add more maps to both online and local multiplayer. And do some more tweaKS to what they do have.

Just bought the game and am disgusted with it already. I love Star Wars the graphics seam ok but with the massive price for the DLC what a waist. Just shows EA doesn’t care about the players they just want to rip you off.

I have 6 friends who play this game, 2 on PC and 4 on Xbox One. They all say that it’s bad, and frankly given EA’s lackluster games they’ve developed the last 6 years I’m inclined to believe them.

I mean look at the Battlefield series. BF3 was their best game since SWBF2 and Bad Company, Battlefield 4 was utter crap, and it’s really just a dumbed-down BF3 with a ton of worthless attachments and terrible gunplay to reel in new-generation Call of Duty fanboys by making it more like CoD. Seriously, there’s more camping and drop-shots in BF4 now than there were in the other Battlefields.

EA is pandering to the lowest common denominator because it makes them money thus sacrificing game quality time and time again. Personally, unless EA changes their priorities I can’t really recommend *anything* from EA anymore. Same goes with any company that has packs that you can purchase in-game like the Battlepacks or Reqs in Halo 5.

Once I got a PC capable of running Battlefront, I got super hyped, went straight to the website, and bought it… I then played 2 hours of it friday night and thought it was the greatest thing I ever played because it was f**king star wars… then I played it saturday night for another 2 hours… then sunday night for another hour… and I realized that no matter how cool it looked, the battles were always going to be un-strategic, boring FFA’s, so I requested my refund

At first, it may seem exciting to be able to experience Battlefront for the first time; the amount of money it is, $60, sure is a lot, and it is at that time you’re going to start ranking your way up. As you gradually play this game, it tends to get quite dull because you keep experiencing same but unique things as you play most or if not, all game modes and single player things. When you see something new from a new update or of some sort, you experience it once or a couple of times until you get quite used to it. The DLC maps can get really fun and amazing while you continue to rank or if already, become at the highest rank. You kill players and it’s satisfying to do so while you earn your two levels up to the trait you have.

If I were to rank this, it’d be a 8/10. This game has great graphics, though not much of content, it still has that Star Wars feeling to it. This is just my opinion, so just do what you gotta do.

This Game sucked terribly, i played for 10 mins and snapped the disk in half. EA took the best idea and created the worst star wars game i have ever experienced.

Cod style games are killing gaming.

Fans just wanted SW Battlefront 3
    Not Battlefront.
