Fallout 4 Update 1.5 Release: 5 Things to Expect & 4 Not To

The new Fallout 4 Survival Mode release is getting closer. To help you prepare, we take a look at a few things you should, and shouldn’t, expect from the Fallout 4 update 1.5 that brings the new Survival Mode to Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

As we push deeper into the year, Bethesda is starting to make good on a number of its promises to Fallout 4 owners.

The company continues to release free meaningful updates to all gamers. The current patch, Fallout 4 update 1.4, delivered a laundry list of bug fixes and new items for settlements.

Bethesda recently released its first Fallout 4 DLC, Automatron, and it just release another. Wasteland Workshop is also here and it brings new settlement items and arenas for intense combat between creatures, raiders and even settlers. The next Fallout 4 DLC release, Far Harbor, is slated for May.

The company is also planning to make good on its promise to improve Fallout 4’s Survival Mode, a mode that many people feel is currently lacking.

The current version of Fallout 4’s Survival Mode comes with some unique challenges but it’s nothing like the beloved hardcore mode from Fallout New Vegas. And over the past few months, many gamers have voiced their displeasure with Bethesda.

Fortunately, Bethesda is a company that listens to its fans and it’s planning a complete overhaul to Fallout 4 Survival Mode.

With the Fallout 4 1.5 update and new Survival Mode release inching closer for PS4, Xbox One and PC, we want to help set your expectations accordingly with some concrete details and some predictions of our own.

It’s important to note that Bethesda’s latest PS4 update isn’t the 1.5 update. It’s an 1.05 update that brings additional support for the Wasteland Workshop DLC that arrived earlier this month.

Expect the 1.5 Update & Survival Mode to Be Next

In its announcement, Bethesda failed to confirm a specific release date for its Fallout 4 1.5 update and the brand new Survival Mode.

The company did however confirm a release window for consoles. Bethesda says that the 1.5 update, Survival Mode, and the bug fixes will be out sometime in April.

And now that the company's rolled out two more beta releases, it's safe to say that Bethesda is making progress towards a final release.

It's difficult to predict an exact date but Bethesda never releases its free updates on weekends so that narrows it down a little bit.

It also tends to release its updates and DLC on Tuesday. Now that April 19th has come and gone April 26th becomes the most logical date for an initial 1.5 release.

We also know that it will be out before the next piece of Fallout 4 DLC. Bethesda's 1.5 update will bring support for the Far Harbor add-0n which means it should be out before its release.

Far Harbor doesn't have a release date yet but it will arrive sometime in May. For more on Far Harbor, check out our list of expectations.
