Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare vs Black Ops 3: What’s New

Here is a look at what’s new in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the 2016 COD game that is coming out later this year with a Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered bonus. We’ll walk through what we know is new in Infinite Warfare and how this compares to Black Ops 3.

Keep in mind that we are still learning details and some of this will change, but for now this is an early Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare vs Black Ops 3 comparison that will help you understand what is coming this fall.

The Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare release date is November 4th and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is currently available with DLC packs coming.

Thanks to developer interviews, teasers and early play sessions we are getting a better idea about what’s new in Infinite Warfare, but this will change some as we start to see gameplay and learn about new modes.

While there is a new Call of Duty game every year, it is made by a different group of designers and developers every three years. Treyarch made Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and now we are cycling back to Infinity Ward for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Thanks to this cycle each team has a long time to work on the game, even though there is a new Call of Duty every year. This also means that work for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare started before Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3 releases took place. This can complicate some of the changes, since development is already far along when the teams start to get external feedback about the other Call of Duty games.

There is a lot of hate directed at the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer, but for all that complaining we have not seen any official gameplay yet.

Joe Cecot, Infinity Ward Lead Designer, says, “it is future but it’s still the Call of Duty that you love.”

Join us for a look at what’s new in a Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare vs Black Ops 3 comparison.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Movement & Multiplayer

The Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare movement system is similar to Black Ops 3. That means that you can thrust jump and move faster than simply walking or sprinting.

We saw this in the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer where there are jetpacks and Infinity Ward confirmed the movement saying the game, "combines Call of Duty's popular movement system with ground-breaking gameplay innovations."

On the PS4 Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare page, the description mentions, "chain-based" movement. Expect to combine slides and jumps for faster paced gameplay.

Professional Call of Duty players shared succinct impressions after playing Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare MP last week. John Boble says, "I got to play Infinite Warfare MP last week. They're all over competitive, players are going to feel at home after BO3."

Other players shared positive early impressions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, especially in comparison to Black Ops 3. MJChino shares, "if you enjoy Bo3 you'll feel right at home with this game :)", and Anthony Zinni writes, "Can't say much but the game feels great."

Of course this will need to see the approval of more than just a handful of pro-players, but it sounds like this will be very similar to what is in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
