In Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, The United States government is looking to stop a massive cartel in its tracks. With these cartels on foreign soil, the DEA or other agencies aren’t equipped to take them on. Worse, a full-scale military presence just isn’t feasible. The Ghosts are the answers to the problem. Provide them with high-level mission objectives and they take care of all the details. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands pre-orders recently kicked off ahead of the game’s 2016 release.
We’ve seen some game studios abandon the multiple SKU approach to game releases, choosing to sell a single digital version and a single physical version for players to purchase. The Ghost Recon Wildlands pre-orders indicate that Ubisoft isn’t planning such a scale back. The game has multiple versions. There are different extras depending on how badly players want the game’s forthcoming digital content add-ons and a memento to remember their experience by.
Here’s what you need to know about Ghost Recon Wildlands pre-orders.
Ghost Recon Wildlands Pre-Orders: Release Window & Platforms
First, let’s talk about the basics. Ghost Recon Wildlands is an expansive, gorgeous looking open-world shooter. It has a dynamic weather system and seamless multiplayer so that those who like playing with a team can do so with three other people. Those that don’t like playing with other real people will get three soldiers in their squad that they can give orders too. It’s an ambitious game for sure.
That ambition seems to have gotten in the way of any kind of backwards compatibility. Anyone that wants to play Ghosts Recon Wildlands will need to have Microsoft’s Xbox One, Sony’s PS4 or a powerful Windows gaming PC. The title won’t be coming to the Xbox 360 or PS3. It’s also skipping the Wii U, which is less powerful than the other two current generation consoles.
Ubisoft has said only publicly that the Ghost Recon Wildlands release date is coming sometime in its 2017 Fiscal Year, which could mean a launch as early as this fall. It’s worth noting that the UPlay Shop lists the release for 2016.
Ghost Recon Wildlands Pre-Orders: The Different Editions
Ghost Recon Wildlands Standard Edition
At the core of Ghost Recon Wildlands pre-orders is the standard edition of the game. Coming to retailers worldwide, it costs $59.99 for users to purchase a physical copy. A PC digital pre-order is available directly from Ubisoft’s UPlay Store now.
Ghost Recon Wildlands Deluxe Edition
At $69.99, Ghost Recon Wildlands Deluxe Edition adds what Ubisoft is calling the Deluxe Pack. The Deluxe Pack is really just a set of in-game extras that are more want that need. The add-ons include a Huntsman rifle, Huntsman motorbike, 3 emblems, 3 weapon skins, 3 pieces of character gear and an XP booster pack to level your character even faster.
This version of the game is also available at retailers to pre-order and purchase.
Ghost Recon Wildlands Gold Edition
Ghost Recon Wildlands Gold Edition Takes the all of the content of the Deluxe Edition and adds in access to the Ghost Recon Wildlands Season Pass. Ubisoft is planning two major expansions for Ghost Recon Wildlands, along with add-on weapons and vehicles.
Ghost Recon Wildlands Collector’s Gold Edition
The most expensive version of the game is Ghost Recon Wildlands Collector’s Edition. This version of the game comes with the game itself, access to the season pass, a set of posters illustrated by Ken Taylor and a Santa Muerte statue carrying a scythe. It sells for $159.99 directly from the Uplay Shop.
Those that do want the extra statue and illustrations but not the season pass have the option to pay $129.99 for the Collector’s Deluxe Edition. The Collector’s Standard Edition dumps all of the extras for just a copy of the game, the statue and posters for $119. Both of these can only be ordered from the UPlay Shop.
Ghost Recon Wildlands Pre-Orders: Pre-Order Extras
Place a Ghost Recon Wildlands pre-order anywhere and you receive a special Peruvian Connections Mission Pack. That’s in addition to the free content that already comes with your version of the game. For now, pre-order extras are a bit light. There aren’t any mainstream retailers offering extras, but that’ll likely change. GameStop always uses them as a way to lure shoppers into its stores.
Ghost Recon Wildlands Pre-Orders: How You Can Save Now
It’s too early for trade-in deals for Ghost Recon Wildlands. That being said, there are other ways to save on the upcoming open-world game.
We’ll definitely hear more about Ghost Recon Wildlands soon. Ubisoft is planning a press event at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo in mid-June.
