How to Reset a Frozen Galaxy S7

Unlike older Samsung smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge do not have a removable back and replaceable battery. In the past if users phones were acting up or frozen many would just pull out the battery, put it back in, and reboot. That's no longer an option.

However, a quick reboot is the best way to fix most little problems or issues almost 95% of the world experience with smartphones. As a result, here we'll eplain how to reset a frozen Galaxy S7. Since you can't pull the battery, follow these steps instead.

If your phone is completely unresponsive or acting up do this.

Simply press down the power button and the volume down button at the same time, and hold them both down for 7-8 seconds. Push, hold, and wait. After 7-8 seconds the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge will vibrate, turn off, and reboot. Any problems it was experiencing will likely be gone, and everything should be fine.

However, if the reboot was more severe and it was completely frozen the Galaxy S7 may reboot into a maintenance or safe mode similar to what’s shown above. Most likely it won’t, but if so, use the volume keys to navigate up or down and select reboot, then hit “Power” to do a normal reboot.

That's it, all is well and your phone should be working great again.

Can I also add my spouse to the fingerprint scan? So we’re both able to use the device?

Google Now gets it wrong so often that it is useless. When did you ever hear anyone use it? Never.

I normally do not leave comments, but thank you for this helpful list! It informed me on things I didn’t know my phone could do, such as the SOS feature.
