General Stability and Performance Improvements

Per usual, the Fallout 4 1.6/1.08 update comes with the vague but useful "General Stability and Performance Improvements."

As we've noted in our reviews of Bethesda's previous Fallout updates, performance on consoles, particularly the Xbox One, has improved thanks to these free updates.

We are no longer plagued with frequent crashes and we've seen a decrease in the amount of lag during encounters with Vertibirds, radiation storms, and dense areas like the Financial District. The game would crawl on 1.3 and 1.2.

That said, there's room for improvement and we hope that Bethesda continues to tweak the game in an effort to improve performance across all three platforms.

PC gamers unfortunately have noticed a number of performance issues with the 1.6 update including frame rate drops. The issues appear to be isolated, at least for the moment.

We expect similar problems to hit the Xbox One and PS4 though we haven't run into anything serious in our short time with the Xbox One version of the 1.6.9 update. It's running smoothly though that could certainly change in the hours ahead.

    “Stability and performance improvements”
Pre update: Everything smooth on ultra settings.
Post update: Everything takes 10x time to load, frequently lags.
