Battlefield 1 DLC: 5 Things to Know Right Now

The first Battlefield 1 DLC for PS4, Xbox One and PC is confirmed and today we want to take an early look at what we know about the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass and the DLC that’ll come with it.

The Battlefield 1 beta is just a few short days away. It’s set to kick off in late August and give Xbox One, PS4, and PC owners a chance to try part of the game ahead of its first release date in mid-October.

Once the Battlefield 1 beta ends, gamers will set their sights on the Battlefield 1 release date which is slated to arrive on three different dates. One for EA Access subscribers, one for Early Enlister Edition owners, and one for everyone else.

Ahead of the Battlefield 1 release date, EA DICE has unleashed its Battlefield 1 Premium Pass (also known as a Season Pass) which allows gamers to buy into the game’s upcoming DLC.

The first Battlefield 1 DLC is confirmed and today we want to take a look at everything you need to know, right now, about the Premium Pass and the upcoming expansions.

The company is mum about some of the important details so we’ll outline a few of our expectations here as well.

Battlefield 1 Premium Pass

The Battlefield 1 Premium Pass has emerged on EA’s Origin website and it confirms a number of key details for PC, Xbox One and PS4 owners.

The Battlefield 1 Premium Pass, like the Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass, will be priced at $50. Or, $10 less than the price of the game.

For $50, you’ll get all four planned Battlefield 1 DLC expansion packs and you’ll also get another key perk.

If you pickup the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass, you’ll get access to all of the DLCs two weeks before everyone else. This also mirrors what EA did with the Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass.

Battlefield 1 Premium Pass Deals

The Premium Pass isn’t available everywhere just yet but we expect retailers to put it on sale for Xbox One, PS4 and PC in the near future.

We also expect to see Battlefield 1 Premium Pass deals emerge at sites like Green Man Gaming giving you a chance to save some money on the $50 price tag.

Look for these deals to emerge ahead of the game’s release date in October and continue as we push into the holidays.

Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass DLC

EA DICE is planning four Battlefield 1 DLC expansion packs for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The first Battlefield 1 DLC add-0n is called They Shall Not Pass.

Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass will focus on France and it will add some new multiplayer maps to the game.

Details about the French army and the new maps are scarce at the moment and we don’t expect EA DICE to elaborate for several weeks at least. So, if you plan on buying the Premium Pass now, you’ll be doing so with very little information.

As for the rest of the DLC, the company hasn’t named the remaining three expansions though it does note that an “upcoming expansion will bring the Russian Empire into the battle.”

It also notes that the four DLC packs will bring 16 new multiplayer maps, new Operations and game modes, new elite classes, 20 new weapons, and more vehicles.

EA says that “details and release dates for each expansion pack” are coming soon.

Battlefield 1 DLC Release Date

The first free Battlefield 1 DLC, an unnamed map, will arrive sometime before the end of the the year. Those who pre-order the game will get the map a week before everyone else.

As for the first paid Battlefield 1 DLC expansion pack, it will arrive in early 2017. For Premium Pass holders at least.

The Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass release date is confirmed for March though we assume this is for Premium Pass holders.

As we’ve seen with the Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass and DLC releases, these release windows usually don’t apply to those that buy the DLC add-ons on their own.

EA typically puts a couple of months between its DLC releases so we’d expect the second DLC add-on to emerge in May or June.

Battlefield 1 DLC Price

Nothing is confirmed but the Battlefield 1 Premium Pass price hints at the price of the individual Battlefield 1 DLC expansion packs.

With the Premium Pass price set at $50, we expect each add-on to cost $15 on its own. Season passes always offer a bit of a deal and we’d expect the Premium Pass to offer the same $10 discount EA gave to Battlefront Season Pass holders.

We fully expect these DLCs to be sold as standalone pieces of content giving those that skip the Premium Pass a chance to buy them.

Battlefield 1 Release Date

Battlefield 1 will arrive on October 18th. For some of you.

This early release date is for those who pre-order the early access version of Battlefield 1. The Early Enlister version of Battlefield 1 will run you $80. There's a way to play it earlier than that though.

EA Access and Origin subscribers will get Battlefield 1 on October 13th thanks to Play First Trials. This is the earliest street date for the game so if you want to play the final product as soon as possible, this is the route to go.

The Battlefield 1 Play First Trial includes five maps and four modes and your progress will transfer over when the full version of the game is released a few days later.

EA Access is $5 a month. It's worth a look if you want to start playing the next Battlefield game as soon as possible.

If you don't buy the Early Enlister Edition or latch onto EA Access, your Battlefield 1 release date will arrive a few days later on October 21st.

If you plan to order a physical copy of Battlefield 1 note that some retailers will be hosting midnight launch events. Only select stores will be open late so you'll want to check with your local retailer to make sure doors will be open.
