Dexcom Share & Follow Diabetes Apps

If you use a Dexcom device for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) you can use the Dexcom Share app to monitor your own glucose levels on your iPhone. You can also use the Dexcom Follow App to monitor glucose levels of someone else, like a child, parent or spouse.

The app you need to use depends on the Dexcom CGM that you use, so you need to make sure to download the right version of the Share app. There are Share, Share2 and the Dexcom G5 Mobile app.

There are Dexcom Share Apple Watch apps as well, which allow you to see the important glucose data at a glance. The app supports.

  • Glucose alerts right on your smart device
  • Custom alert sounds
  • Dexcom Share remote™ monitoring, which allows you to share your glucose data for free with up to five followers
  • Intuitive and user-friendly interface
  • HealthKit access so you can share retrospective glucose data with third party apps
  • Today View widget, which allows you to view your glucose data on the lock screen of your smart device

You need an iPhone to use the Share apps, but there is a Follow App for the iPhone and for Android as well. This is the app that you can use to monitor the levels of someone else.

The PredictBGL App also does the same thing, but unlike MySugr, it is designed for people with T1 diabetes. PredictBGL also includes LIVE dexcom data, whereas MySugr is delayed by at least 3 hours, making it far less useful.

As a Type 1 diabetic, the technology available can be a god-send in monitoring and anticipating sugar highs and lows. The CGM is an integral part of a management and predictive program. Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover CGM products so us seniors are left to find out our glucose levels after the fact.

How the hell did you decide which apps to review and rate? There are far better apps than those you choose… As a type 1 diabetic I would recommend Diabetes:M, it’s far better than all of those (maybe without mysugr). Please review more apps before writing such posts … It’s just hilarious to say those are “the best”.

I just wanted to let you know about an app that I use and love. The app is called “Diabetes:M”. It is free and has helped me manage my diabetes. I am a Type 1. It lets you log carbs, insulin, etc. and you can send all of the info from it by e-mail to your provider. It has graphs and charts that help out a lot as well. Hope this helps someone else as much as it has helped me. Thanks.

A great app that has many features is Wellocity Health. It allows you to track blood glucose, carb counting, weight, medication, exercise, and much more! It’s great if you have other health conditions too like hypertension. There is also educational material if you ever feel like reading more about diabetes. It’s free on the app store!
